Any team getting through the first round will be tough because they obviously had to be playing well to advance. Throw out the early season records and just pay attention to the last month or so, and for the most part any of these 3 teams will be a handful. The teams that have been eliminated so far really were not playing well going into the postseason. The same for the most part applies to RPI which as I post this is struggling half way through game 3. I still expect Union to beat any of the three but understand that nothing is easy in the EZ AC and an upset is not out of the equation.

RPI and Colgate heading into OT. Who will be coming to Schenectady next weekend? SLU or Colgate? Time will tell.

It's Colgate @ Union. Colgate beat RPI, 2-1, in the 2nd OT to win the series, 2 games to 1.

The Dutchmen will have their hands full next weekend and the pressure will be squarely on their shoulders. It should be a good test for Union and if they pass it, a good start to the postseason.

It's pretty disappointing, actually. As much as I've been an RPI hater over the years, I would have loved to see them knock off Cornell and stick it to the ECAC powers that be. But, as UHM said, they were struggling coming into the playoffs. Even after a convincing win Friday night, they still couldn't close it out.

You still gotta give Colgate some credit - down to an elimination game, they pulled out two wins on the road. Now they'll be coming into town with all the confidence in the world and have nothing to lose. It's the most dangerous type of opponent, but I hope Nate will have the boys focused and ready.

This is where having the bye is not always a good thing. I always worry when the boys are playing well and then have some downtime while others are playing. There is the chance of coming out lazy and taking time to ramp it back up to speed while Colgate is coming off the intensity and adrenaline high of this weekend. Amen to Nate having the boys focused.

I'd still much rather take my chances with a bye and deal with a home series against a hot team. Just ask RPI, Princeton, and Clarkson how happy they are about missing out on the bye right about now.

It should be a battle next weekend, but Union didn't get to be the #1 seed by looking past opponents.

Sure, RPI, P-ton, & Clarkson would have loved the bye, but they were the home team playing a hot team...
I'm not discounting the bye, just saying that often it's much like a train where it is easy to overcome hills in the way when it has momentum on its side. When it stops for a rest, it takes time and energy to get it back to a normal pace. I'm confident that they will be able to get back up to speed as long as they are truly focused on the task at hand and not looking past the series.

Congratulations to Union on a great season, and on being voted #4 in this week's USCHO poll. Hope to see you guys in Atlantic City, and then again in St. Paul. Great recognition for the ECAC.

Honestly ever since I have moved, I have missed the team and the success has finally started Good luck to all from snowy Rochester NY the Union flag will be waving here!

Just curious, but has everyone who ordered tickets online for this weekend (and chose to get them via the mail) received them?

I phone ordered mine a week ago today, Monday, but haven't gotten them as of today. I called the Athletic Department today and they allege that they were mailed Friday. I would guess they'll show tomorrow, but who knows?

Yeah, waiting on mine too. I ordered them on 2/23, minutes after they went on sale, and they said on Friday that they went out on Thursday. But I still haven't gotten them despite my close proximity to the school. Usually takes 1 day in the mail. Time for an e-mail.

On the plus side, it looks like these games are selling very well and are probably locks to be standing room only. If anyone is considering going, I'd recommend getting them prior to this weekend.

I ordered my tickets on Thursday by phone and got them today.
