Union College Dutchmen Hockey 2010-11: There's one way and that's to Atlantic City!

Re: Union College Dutchmen Hockey 2010-11: There's one way and that's to Atlantic Cit

How bad is 890? I will probably already be leaving here early, but seeing as how I have to go through Schenectady, I want to make sure it isn't TOO bad.

From a friends Facebook status who lives in Schenectady

"Almost put my car into the snow on 90... saw an SUV in my rear view mirror crash on 787.... all told I drove past almost 20 cars crashes today"

Google maps has 890 colored in as RED which means it is not good. I imagine 890 would be better than Rt 7 but either way the roads wont be great

Thanks. Looks like I'll be taking my time; hopefully I can pick up a little bit of time in the Utica area.

Definitely allow yourself plenty of time. I haven't been outside since 7:30am, but all reports I'm getting are that it's very slick. It's right in that middle ground as far as temperature goes (low-mid 30s), so things could get hairy. Be very careful driving.

As for the games, Union just needs to play their game. Both Quinnipiac & Princeton need to win, so their "A" games are coming.

I live 10 minutes north from the Archilles Rink and we have a good 9/10 inches of snow already on the ground

Do you guys think I'm going to have a problem driving up from NYC at 6:30? It's usually a 3 hour drive.

Re: Union College Dutchmen Hockey 2010-11: There's one way and that's to Atlantic Cit

The roads will likely be worse the closer you get to Schenectady. But on the plus side, the bulk of the storm should be over with by 6:30. At least for the time being, the snow has already lessened quite a bit from where it was a few hours ago. Weather shouldn't be an issue tomorrow night.

I'm real curious to see what impact the weather has on the attendance tonight.

Into the most exciting weekend in U hockey history for me. As stated, it's in the hands of the boys to finish off an amazing regular season and into a hopeful 2nd season. The adrenaline is flowing...excitement in the air. Hoping that the team keeps working and finishes off with a bang. We know what should be, but will it be? Here's to another successful weekend
Gooooo U

I agree with rdf...the last advisory I heard was to go until 10:00pm, but I don't know if that's changed since this morning. By the time you get to the Albany area, the storm should be slowing down. Drive safe.

You should be fine coming from NY, there wasn't any snow until about Poughkeepsie from what I saw on radar. No more snow now in Saratoga...over the top of my boots though. We'll be trekking down...just leaving early.

Lets go U

No snow here in Grand Cayman.:D, but I'll be checking the internet for updates on the game. My son's laptop runs Linux and doesn't support the teamline stream. Of course when we planned this trip, a first place finish was just a twinkle in my eye, not that I'm complaining but you guys are going to have to bring it home this weekend without me. Make it an historic weekend, wish I could be there (sort of ;)) Go U!

Snow has picked up again in Schenectady, but is supposed to tapper off between 6-8 PM. Going through the online ticket system last night, it seemed like quite a few seats were already sold. But this is probably the worst game night weather I can remember this season. The Friday game in early Jan vs St. Lawrence also sticks out as being especially treacherous.

There's probably 15 inches of heavy, wet snow in Schenectady. Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people decide not to bother with the roads tonight.

Did you visit the Turtle Farm yet? My wife and I went there on our honeymoon cruise, and it was fantastic. We also visited the Rum Cake Factory, and the big pit in Hell. Make sure you send a your Union brethren a postcard from Hell, the only post office in Grand Cayman. PS, I know it's a delicacy in Grand Cayman, but, don't eat the turtle soup. After visiting the turtle farm and picking up the turtle's, they'll poop on you.

Yup, did the turtle farm, those are some big reptiles. Also swam with the stingrays, pretty cool. Didn't go to Hell;). Also took a pass on the turtle soup. I've gotta say that after a week or so here, I don't feel like going anywhere, except AC, of course. Go U!

I thought this game would be surprisingly close, but still expected Union to win. A tie is rather disappointing, but at least Colgate tied Yale as well.

Gotta love Colgate...destiny deferred! Ah, but for the elusive A game the Dutchmen would be revelling in an ECAC regular season championship. There are no gimme's in this league. Princeton is a very high hurdle. PRAY!

I'm telling you...don't bank on anything in this league.

Matt & Brian said after the game that it was probably a B+ effort for Union and I'd have to agree. When the lead was 2-0, I felt like they could win without their best effort. It was difficult to tell if Union just didn't have enough energy or if Quinnipiac played them tightly enough to take Union off their game. Probably a combination of both, but if Union put out the appropriate effort, they would have won.

Even if they did win, they'd still only be 2 points ahead of Yale and wouldn't have clinched first place. A share of first place would have been taken care of, but I'm more interested in sole possession of first place.

Nevertheless, win tonight and the Cleary Cup comes to Schenectady.

Please beat Princeton tonight

Cleary Cup Champions!!!

Congrats to Union.
You guys deserve the Cleary Cup after the performance you put on to end this season.
Here is to hoping that we meet up in AC and then beyond!
