Ken is doing a FACEBOOK LIVE presentation Thursdays at noon - yesterday he had coach Bennett on for a discussion..
He will be covering all Hockey not just Union and welcomes ideas and takes questions for the guests...

That's a game we wanted! Another great effort by the whole team, from freshmen to seniors. A bit bummed out Pontarelli didn't get a point, he worked hard and even had an almost goal. Decent defense too (with some lapses on the PK), by all the team. We have to stay out of the box.
Some incredible saves by both goalies, some bad luck for Alex on the first goal.
Great hat trick by Vec, with great assists.
The scoring looks like we have only one line firing right now, but IMO, the game tells a slightly different story, with 7 players getting points (if I counted right)

On to Brown, who'll be very eager to get their first W this season!! (and who outshot RPI in the first and third period tonight)

It sure was - what a fun game to watch! Great to see the team get rewarded for their effort to comeback and win. Sak definitely saved the game at the end and looked solid tonight as well.

Brown has not played last year's starting goaltender this year, and in 3 games the has scored a single goal. Hopefully the excellent start for the Dutchmen continues!

All we need to know about Brown is that they have plenty of talent and they ALWAYS play us tough. We have not beaten them since 2014. We have to come and be ready to play a bruising hockey game.

Nice bounce back win after the loss to HC.
Brown always plays U tough so the team will need to bring their A game to pickup the weekend sweep.

Apparently this team will go as far as Vecks can take them. That was an entertaining game to watch and Yale is a good team that should get better. Special teams are almost a train wreck, but nice comeback effort. Fantastic to get the 2 points in league play. As everyone is saying, Brown ALWAYS plays U tough and their goaltender always seems to have a AA night. Hope they can get another W tonight.

Does anyone know where we can get "Line Charts" before each game? They used to be posted by Ken Schott and they used to be posted on the Garnet Hockey Report but neither seems to be doing so this year.

As expected, a tough even contest, with few penalties.
It seems that we have trouble keeping our foot on the gas sometimes, and we get too cute and relaxed. What happened after Brown took the lead? Union has the same team, same players... Yet all of a sudden the forecheck is back, everyone is finishing their hits and the energy of the team goes through the roof. Result : 3 goals in 5 minutes. If we find a way to get this level of play going for 60 minutes, this is going to be a fun season :)

Good job team, a nice 4 points week end!

PS: Vec's goal is beautiful

Brown outplayed us for 55 minutes. We showed up for the last 5 minutes ..... our big forwards came to the rescue.

Great ECAC start for the Dutchmen - I can't stop watching that spin-o-rama goal. And Vecchione was tripped as he shot the puck!

Vech's goal one of the best I have seen by a U player.
Other memorable goals.....
Welsh end to end vs Harvard (ECAC Final)
Novak skate to backhand vs PC (NCAA Regional)
Ghost skates thru Minn (NCAA Final)
Bodie deke & blast vs BC (NCAA Semi)

A very special player !

I was there for all these but the most impressive IMO was Welsh's goal. We were in Atlantic City, playing for the ECAC Championship, tied 0-0 with under 10 minutes to play and Harvard was pressing and scored a goal. Welsh then went the full length of the ice to score the tying goal. Carr, a short time later scored the GWG. Our first ECAC Championship.

A special player no doubt, but that pass was better than the goal.

Welsh had a monster year similar numbers to what Vech is putting up now.
Of course that team with Welsh as its leader was a little more seasoned having won the ECAC (reg season) and having made the NCAA tourney for the first time. Vech is on a roll this year and the team is feeding off his leadership and tremendous talent.
Two other very memorable goals based on the pure drama of the moment:
Vech vs BC (NCAA Semi's)
Sullivan vs Minny (NCAA Final)

Great to see U back on a roll !!

The Saints defense which was expected to be a major strength of the team, led by first-team All-ECAC defenseman Gavin Bayreuther, has gotten off to a slow start giving up 3.50 goals per game which is tied with Alaska-Fairbanks and the University of New Hampshire for 40th in the nation.

Don't let this fool you ..... the Saints were just waiting for league play to get them focussed. Now that league play has begun, the Saints are serious. Hayton shut out both ECAC teams he faced this weekend including Quinnipiac and we all know how hard that is to do.

Two very tough teams this weekend, both picked to finish at the top of the league and both played very tough non-conference schedules.

Friday's contest against SLU should be a great game. Union's high-powered offense hasn't seen a goalie as good as Kyle Hayton so far this year. Both teams are undefeated in league play in the early going. And it's a homecoming of sorts for SLU coach Mark Morris, an assistant at Union back in the mid-80's.

After a tough stretch with five games in 8 or 9 days, Union should benefit from getting back to normal this week.
