Was Walker a surprise?

Yes, because he wasn't expected until 2016-17. But he did have a solid year in the USHL, especially for a 97 birth year.

In other news, incoming goalie Jake Kupsky was drafted by the San Jose Sharks today (7th rd, 193rd overall).

Interesting how few draft picks were from the ECAC and how many where from HE. Looks like us, Yale and Harvard. http://www.uscho.com/2015-nhl-entry-draft-college-rankings-and-selections/ Going to be interesting to see if the success that the ECAC has had the past 3-4 years competing nationally is sustainable. Going to be great to watch this incoming class develope.

HE = 24 draft picks
ECAC = 4 draft picks

I don't see the ECAC being able to stay competitive with "Big Brother" with these types of numbers ..... and we have 8 matchups against HE in 2015-2016.

I disagree. The ECAC will have teams that constantly stay together and grow while some of the bigger programs will lose these kids to the NHL within the 1st or 2nd year thus not having the ability to mature and grow as a team. The ECAC will get players that are good under the radar and will stay for 4 years thus being able to consistently compete against the big programs.

I am hoping you are right ..... that certainly was the case for us two years ago with those 5 seniors.

Trust me, even five years ago I wouldn't have believed that we would see even one of UNH, Maine, BU, or Michigan at Messa, let alone all four in one season. This has to be one of the better home non-conference schedules that any ECAC program has put together in a long time.

It's definitely Union's best home schedule in at least five years... 18 home games (14 or 15 the last few seasons), no crazy drought without a home game (like last year) and first-ever visits by BU, Michigan.

The home schedule is much improved over last year. In other news, I got my season ticket brochure in the mail today!

Re: Union College: 2015-2016

Bodie got a "Qualifying Offer" from the Rangers. What does that mean?

Jooris got one from Calgary as well.

As NHL.com put it, "A qualifying offer retains negotiating rights to a team’s restricted free agents. If a team does not send a qualifying offer to one of their restricted free agents, he becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1."

Or Quinnipiac who returns practically everyone except Peca from a regular season champion team.
