Goaltending is another metric:
Below are the ECAC stats for GAA and save%. (http://www.uscho.com/stats/conference/ecac/2014-2015/) These stats are for the ECAC games only and do not include non-conference. Some teams did much better in non-conference matchups. Others did much better in ECAC matchups. Only two teams, as best as I can tell, are losing their starting goalie, Harvard and UNION. In those cases I used the stats from their backups. In Harvard's case the backup only played in one game. The ECAC is returning 10/12 goaltenders.

The following is a proxy for "coaching". It is the coach's record at the ECAC team they are currently coaching. This data came from College Hockey News http://www.collegehockeynews.com/reports/team/Union/54
This excludes any coaching record at any other school. It is the "winning percentage" for however long the current coach has been coaching at their current ECAC school. There is no minimum threshold in wins.

Hi Dutchman, thanks for doing all that work.
Goaltending was my biggest disappointment last year. Sometimes, you need your goalie to steal a game for you; last season, it didn't happen. More shot blocking by the forwards should help, but without a goalie, there isn't much the team can do (Alex's 3.07 save % vs Lyon's 1.65). On the other hand, Alex did improve quite a bit, so I have hope. Competition will be good too.

Schedule Change
Union changes two dates on 2015-16 hockey schedule

Union College announced that two road games on its 2015-16 hockey schedule have been moved one day earlier.
Union at Quinnipiac will now be Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016 (originally scheduled for Jan. 8).
Union at Princeton is now Friday, Jan. 8, 2016 (originally scheduled for Jan. 9),
Both games will be played at 7 p.m.

This year's team will be one of the tallest and heaviest in Union's history. Of the current 60 teams in NCAA DI College Hockey, the Dutchmen will be the 14th tallest and 11th heaviest. Cornell once again sports the tallest team followed by Ivy League competitors Brown and Princeton. The Ivy league has traditionally put on the ice some of the biggest but also some of the youngest teams in college hockey.

Next year will be very exciting if you're able to make it to our home games. By January 1 we will have played in our first 17 games and 13 will be home games. Next year's schedule will be very interesting. Will we continue our offensive capabilities? Shore up defensively? Be ready for league play by January 1? Who will lead? By January 1, 2016 we will have played 8 conference games and 9 nc games. What will be our record?

Could you show shots for? I'm imagining that Clarkson is way down the list.

I looked at "shots on goal/game average" but did not think that was a sound metric because some teams blast away with a low % of success while others deliberately take fewer shots so it plays heavily into the coaching philosophy. Some teams take fewer shots and score more frequently as a percentage of total shots. Again these are "ECAC only" (22 games) stats.
