Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Three) - Living in Interesting Times

Yes. Especially when there is no one there to do anything about it. Open season on the quick, but slight of frame guys.

Precisely. No one - and I mean no one - did anything. Tirone seemed pretty p!$$ed off too by his defenders' inability to keep opposing players off his doorstep. At least we've avoided any SMT-worthy discussion (so far) on those big, bad Merrimack meanies - er, players. Post season hockey looks like this. And this is only the early stages ... not that we'll be around with a rooting interest too much longer.

Bad idea; Cats have one of worst PKs in country, so cannot afford to play short-handed.

You know, I'd ordinarily agree ... but UNH played like they were afraid of drawing penalties in the 3rd period Friday night, and instead of officially playing on the PK (which they avoided), they were on a de facto PK for most of the final 17+ minutes of regulation instead. So it was lose-lose ... play afraid and cautious, and give away the flow of the game anyway.

At some point, you have to show a willingness to compete on the rough stuff. It's a Game 3 (elimination game) for both teams, and you can bet the officials are going to be very selective about what gets called. 90% likely they're gonna let the boys play and let 'em settle it between themselves. If UNH doesn't stand up for themselves tonight, they have no chance - zero - of extending the season. And if that means taking a couple of (matching?) minors in the process, then it's gotta be done. Penalties which establish an aggressive tone, I'll live with that all night long. Wimpy grabs, or stick infractions when they stop moving their skates ... THOSE are the ones UNH needs to avoid.

Well almost game time and no sign of Mike Bancock OR Mike jr. for that matter!! Might have missed him. Head of HE in the house to make up for the lack of star power thank heavens!! 😉 Let's Go 'Cats!!

Ps Rene Rancourt makes up for the lack of MB... Ha!

Radio guys say Babcock is out with injury. One of their "three keys to the game" is "which team's seniors want it more."

Is Merrimack picking up the live feed

Watching via Hockey East TV ($9.95). UNH nearly got a gift on a dump in by Cleland. Machnick just mentioned strong play by Marks - he's gotten lucky as a couple of MC forwards have fumbled away scoring chances after they've torched Marks down the side and made him look like a HS defenseman...

Cute, but quite frankly - how much these seniors want it, just doesn't matter. Their line has been awful and along with the D - its more of the same tonight. Can't clear the zone, turning over tons of pucks and fortunate to be playing the team they're playing. If they were playing BC tonight, its already 4-0...

Our SMTs played into February without taking a major, but Cleland's might have been their fifth in less than a month?

Sean Collins in the house, according to radio guys, who also say that "the Cats now must take chances."

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Three) - Living in Interesting Times

UNH failed to put an extra person in the box for the 10 minute misconduct. So when 5 minutes were up, they wouldn't let Miller out of box. UNH sends guy over dasher, and gets flagged for 2 minute penalty illegal substitution.

UNH gets PPG from Dawson, now 2-1.

Simply pathetiic and inexcusable coaching.

Nice effort by Dawson!
