BTW, do we know that if there are any non-UNH alums as candidates?
Personally I think it would be good to look outside the "box".
However looking at track record I hope all are alums. Umile likes people he knows and has worked with in the past. So any non UNH alum candidate would very like be in his late 50's. I would like some youth and hence I think the pool of acceptable candidates would be former Umile players.
That's probably what cost Chuck the job, as I believe he predates Umile at UNH and is somewhere in his 50's...![]()
Naw, this thread is what cost Chuck the job.![]()

Charlie Holt started this; hire alums that played for me, so it's his fault! Chuck will have a fighting chance with a Bentley vacancy![]()

Charlie never had alums as assistants. Back in the glory days, he had one assistant, Bob Norton, who was also an assistant on the football team. Near the end of Bob's time, Charlie brought in Bob Kullen who played for Charlie's great friend, Sid Watson, at Bowdoin. Sometime near the end of Charlie's time he might have had Dave O'Connor on the staff but that's it. Charlie had a pretty good coaching tree - McShane, Beaney, Crowder, Bob Francis - but none of these guys, nor any of their peers, coached at UNH. On the other hand, Bob Kullen brought in two former players as assistants - Umile and Sean Coady.
Only other school that does this is BU....York's assistants never played for him at BC.

Look at the quote you responded to and see if you can figure out why your post is incorrect.Hmm! Thats interesting and surprises me that York doesn't bring in BC guys.

BC Associate Head coach Greg Brown is a BC guy.
Marty McInnis is a BC guy.
Ayers is not, but a York coached BC guy was interviewed for the position.
Non-hockey related humorous video. Good for a chuckle this morning.
