I found the tweet from College Hockey Inc that 14 NCAA teams would be repping in last nights game slate with UNH leading the way with 3. Sigh...
Ok, I think that they may have meant in that particular game between those two teams?

Not sure I've ever seen the word "grinder"associated with Kessel (at least in a positive way). I think that's a large part of the reason why he's not in Boston anymore. Ditto Seguin. Just not the kind of players that organization values.
Also seriously doubt UNH is anywhere near close to the top of the list of D-1 schools producing current (or past) NHL players, but it's nice to see a few out and about there nowadays. Can't hurt the recruiting efforts.![]()

Our? Go Habs.
Years ago for an entire game I had edgy fun running commentary with some above the legal limit NU students in the section next to us. Post game in the street after a suspenseful UNH victory, a NU fan, unrelated to the earlier NU crew, walking in the opposite direction, sees my UNH cap and drops a from the heart "F@#$ You, UNH!!!" on me. My daughter, much younger at the time, told me it was the most intense competitive crowd vibe she's ever (maybe still?) experienced. The NU fans can be a sensitive bunch; an inferiority complex is very much part of the Husky DNA. And that's coming from someone who spent the best four summers of his youth working the grounds along Huntington Ave., including Boston (now Mathews) Arena - which BTW is still by far my favorite HE destination. Hope they never replace that barn. Total classic.
here's the tweet:
College Hockey, Inc. @collegehockey · Nov 12
Based on morning skates, 14 schools have former players in action on tonight's @NBCSN @NHL doubleheader (led by UNH-3, Miami/Wisc-2)
So I'm guessing it was exclusive to the B's V Leafs then the second game featuring the Kings and I'm not remembering who they played...?
oops. Speaking for myself! Go Habs indeed; they are killing them early...
Toronto GM Dave Nonis must really like what he see's from UNH. He traded for Van riemsdyk, then his son Nick Nonis committed to UNH. He brought in Trevor Smith, Dan Winnik, and also signed Blake Kessel and Eric Knodel to AHL contracts. Looks like UNH north! I wonder when Nonis trades for TVR to complete the NHL set![]()
College Hockey: Wildcats' freshmen playing like vets:
http://www.unionleader.com/article/20141114/SPORTS22/141119468
DURHAM — If Dick Umile’s University of New Hampshire hockey team has surprised him in any way so far this season, perhaps that surprise has been the production of the 10-player freshman class.
UNH’s No. 1 goaltender is a freshman, the Wildcats have regularly been playing three freshmen on defense and the freshmen have produced more points (5-14-19) than any other class...
And perhaps so much Freshman playing time which Coach should be credited for.No surprise to anyone reading UNH threads, especially C-H-C's; nearly all projections that I have read here have been that this year's recruiting class was the best in the past four years. I think that my only surprise was the assailant opening up an opportunity for Clark in net.
Felger, I agree with you 100% on the recent NU coaching selections. Especially the current guy (cue the Husky fans going into uber-defensive hysterics, "whaddaya mean, he's just doin' his job", etc.).
Predictions for this weekend: UNH takes 3 points, with a win at home and a hard-fought tie at the Barn God Built.
Pending track star recruitment for the Dog House?...the time out ritual was temporarily stopped this season- I'm hopeful to get it back this weekend, but more likely it comes back next weekend vs Merrimack.
Pending track star recruitment for the Dog House?
Charge the hat batteries!I wouldn't say any of us are the running type, but we'll be flying around once it comes back![]()
Works for me...keeps Madigan winless
Snive, this is not directed to you personally, but to all on this board: If you were one of Casey's parents or your child was in Casey's position, how would you feel about the "assailant" label? I doubt they read this forum, but this is a very tough time for the Desmith family. UNH supporters might consider a display of class.
I agree with Darius, my apologies, and I will be more careful with my language.
