Re: UNH Recruits: 2012-2016

Former UNH Recruit Mike Vecchione has committed to Union College for the fall of 2013.

Same reason a kid would walk away fromUNH without another deal in hand... wants Hockey East and as much money as possible to help out his family. Had a 95% deal from a frozen four team and said no thanks

Several HE teams have money for next season and are making offers as we speak

Hummm... apparently he didn't, wrong again.

Re: UNH Recruits: 2012-2016

If memory serves me, Union doesn't offer scholarships. I know academic or financial aid, blah, blah blah, but a far cry from a full ride, or 3/4 ride, to UNH. Have to imagine that if he committed so early to UNH that it had to be for a minimum of 3/4. Will definitely be an interesting spin.

Re: UNH Recruits: 2012-2016

Is anybody here worried that Masters will be playing for a coach who is widely suspected of giving improper benefits to players? Or do you all have no problem with becoming the next Maine?

If it comes out as a problem UNH is already in that boat with the number of players that have come in via Hitmen in the last 2 years.

Re: UNH Recruits: 2012-2016

Jordan Masters (UNH), Jack Barre (Dartmouth), Charles Orzetti (Yale), Steve Racine (Michigan), Eric Rohrkempe (Michigan State), Sean Sanford (RPI), Adam Miller (Wisconsin) - to name just a few - all chose to play for Coach Harris and the Jersey Hitmen. These players all consulted with their future college coaches when deciding where to play and they all had multiple options on where to play junior hockey. These players, families and college coaches would find the slanderous accusation about Coach Harris posted on an anonymous fan forum to be ridiculous.

JD Dudek from Pinkerton and now KUA committed to BC per USHR came down to Maine, Brown, UNH and BC.

Saw this on WMUR last night....too bad for UNH, but best of luck to him. "The rich get richer".

U.S. Hockey Report reports that 1996-born forward Patrick Grasso has committed to UNH. Look for an upcoming article on the blog.
