UNH Offseason Contract Edition.

Question to the board in general: Now that UMaine has rediscovered the travel coordinates to the Garden, and Luce made his one and only appearance for the emerging dynasty (not) that was supposedly UConn two years ago ... is it safe to assume that UNH now is on the clock as the program that hasn't been to Boston for the HEA semis the longest? Or is UVM in the running there, too?

Even though they're no longer in the league, I'm wondering if NICC has a more recent appearance than UNH ...

UVM made their last appearance in 2015 (just put away that now 'vintage' poster with then Capt Matt Willows) That said UVM made it to the qtrs while we did not in '16 ( we lost to...Merrimack in the first round)

Looking at the 2016 HE tournament UVM almost made the semis as they lost to BC in 3 games....losing the 3rd in a 4-3 (OT) decision to the Beagles....as an interesting side note.

Both UVM and UNH made it to the qtrs in 2017 while NIIC made it to the semis in their last season in HE...

So before this season Maine had been the longest stint of being out of the HE semis (as you point out)

Correct if wrong but what is NOT wrong is it seems the qtrs have been our ceiling so to speak..for now.

Trivia Questions: 1) who did RIT upset in their semifinal game in Albany, and 2) what other Atlantic Hockey team knocked us out of a NCAA regional and when?

I was at Albany that year too for the NCAA regional. RIT upset Denver in their semi. One of my brothers went to Denver so it's pretty easy for me to recall.
Chuck already correctly nailed Question 2 with his Niagara answer. I believe Conklin was in net for that game against the Purple Eagles, no?

Thanks for doing the research, 'Ref. So we've now confirmed ... UNH has been absent from Boston and the HEA Semis longer than any current HEA program, and one former HEA program, too. Impressive *gack* ...

... funny how none of that stuff came up these last few weeks, when the HEA media were flacking for the guy responsible for coaching at UNH for nearly 90% of that time away from the limelight? And how none of that came up when chatting with Jack & Brick, nor in UNH's press release featuring AD SugarBritches (lol "grouchy1"!)??

I forget if it was 'Watcher or Dan (or someone else, apologies), who said the AD just doesn't "get" UNH Hockey and its history, but they were 100% right. And it just goes to show, while you can take the girl out of Princeton, sometimes it's more difficult to take the Princeton out of the girl. What happened to the heartless admin who a year ago cut loose a guy with a similar record of mediocrity, and gave some of us hope she'd do it again this March???

Still clearly in Phase 1 of being angry, and not likely to get beyond that anytime soon. Unconscionable ...

Yup, Denver was the No. 1 seed in that 2010 East Regional, Cornell the No. 2.

Must have been Conklin in net at the 2000 West Regional as he got all but two decisions that went to Matt Carney in that 23-9-6 season.

Conklin 21st all-time in UNH alums with most NHL games played with 216. CDS slowly closing, now 25th and over 160 NHL games.

This is incorrect from what I see. Last Maine visit was 2012 with a win in the semis and a loss in the finals.

... uhhh Norbie ... you may want to turn on NESN and see who's playing in the HEA semis right now ... did you miss the events of last Saturday up in Orono, and misunderstand the gravity of the outcome??

In Mexico time change still has me foggy. Was thinking prior to this year. We land at 6 tomorrow so hoping to zip over to TD for the UNH game

Sounds like you've contracted a really, really bad case of Montezuma's Revenge, mon ami ...

In other news former NU asst and local soccer star joins UNH soccer coaching staff. Stefan DeFregger was a Dave Pinkham standout and played for Dartmouth. Landed at NU after a brief pro stint.

Going to be tough going to the Gahden tonight glad to stay home. Go BU! (I guess)

Heard DU was in the building last night but no sign of MS7. Maine sure travelled well lots of blue jerseys. Excellent game to watch the first not so much.

Be interested to see if UMass makes the cut. In comments Carvel said that the Garden was intimidating
not sure how that figures into an 8-1 beat down given the fact the Minutemen were there 3 out of the last 4 seasons but whatever...

BC...what a wagon.

Yeah saw that! Someone sent me that..I do follow the Maine Facebook group (major lurker don't have the guts to post lol) Heard he was hanging out in the HE box.

Maine fans should be proud of their showing last night..Team never gave up should be a decent indicator of how they do going forward. Not sure UNH fans would have turned out in force like you guys did. ..

Good luck going forward hope you end up in one of the Northeast sites!
