Oops, I did not realize that UML-Bazin has a chance to leapfrog UNH with a win over UMass-Flagship today, although down 2-1 after one period, on NESN.Might not even be for 24 hours… Lowell plays at 3:30 pm today

Hey Ref. Shootout goals don't count in players stats.Does his shoot out goal not count?
4-4 at the moment! UML gets 2 back in 40 secs!!Oops, I did not realize that UML-Bazin has a chance to leapfrog UNH with a win over UMass-Flagship today, although down 2-1 after one period, on NESN.
Looks like Cats will remain out of the HEA basement for another few days at least.4-4 at the moment! UML gets 2 back in 40 secs!!
Yikes… just took a closer look. The 4 other teams with us are the powerhouses of UVM, Alaska Anchorage, Northern Michigan, and Mercyhurst. We are behind the likes of St. Lawrence and RPI (whom we scored 6 against earlier this year…).UNH one of five teams across D1 averaging fewer than 2 goals a game
We averaged our worst 2.11 GPG in 2022/23, with our 2.24 GPG in 2021/22 a close second.UNH one of five teams across D1 averaging fewer than 2 goals a game
Excellent sleuthing, JB. I found 1977/78 to be the second highest GPG at 6.57 (197 G, 528 pts in 30 games), with 1976/77 third highest at 6.26 (244 G, 665 pts in 38 games), and 1970/71 the highest at 6.86 (199 goals, 521 pts in 29 games). Yup, different era, for sure. But, Lively Snively got its name for a reason. Louis Frigon, recruited from Montreal by Rube Bjorkman, was a senior in the 1970/71 season when he scored 38 goals and 48 assists for 86 points. Seven other double-digit goal scorers that season included Billy Munroe (21 G, 60 pts), Mike McShane (15 G, 58 pts), Dick Umile (21 G, 56 pts), John Gray (30 G, 50 pts), Guy Smith (11 G, 47 pts), Bill Beaney (24 G, 44 pts), and Terry Blewett (16 G, 20 pts). How many double-digit goal scorers will UNH have this season?
It's worth noting that certain posters here thought Ryan Conmy, who led UNH is scoring last year as a sophomore, was a major problem with UNH hockey last year. They thought he was an overrated prima donna. I'm talking about Meathead (Norbert), Emily The Flunky, Buford (Chuck Murray) and Elwood (JB). Keep that in mind when they share their opinions on this Board.UNH one of five teams across D1 averaging fewer than 2 goals a game
And, Nick Ring and Morgan Winters have more points than Conmy does at BC. Your point is what exactly? It's worth noting that certain posters here thought Ryan Conmy, who led UNH is scoring last year as a sophomore, was a major problem with UNH hockey last year. They celebrated Conmy's transfer to BC.
Please don't feed the troll. And, Nick Ring and Morgan Winters have more points than Conmy does at BC. Your point is what exactly?
Yet another lazy/slanderous lie. I never "celebrated" anything to do with Conmy's departure. "Indifferent" would be way more accurate. It's worth noting that certain posters here thought Ryan Conmy, who led UNH is scoring last year as a sophomore, was a major problem with UNH hockey last year. Have the Cats fallen so far and our expectations dropped so low that the team (and fans) cheer a shootout tie like they they won Hockey East or secured a trip to the NCAAs?
Looks like Cats will remain out of the HEA basement for another few days at least.

The truth is that the team looks as lost as MS7...no identity, a lack of leadership and completely out of shape. Tough to win games when you consistently run out of gas by 10:00 of the second period.
I predict at least 1 or 2 of these teams left will 'look past' the Wildcats/play down to their level and then...we gotta chance! No UNH has fallen so low we are celebrating them not being in last place for a couple days.
As to the out of shape - the team was sick last week with barely a 1/3 of the team practicing on Thursday. I think evaluating their fitness this last weekend is a tough one. I actually give them a little credit for mustering energy to get that game tied late in the 3rd.
As to the lost as MS7, yup, there is no apparent system, no structure. On Saturday they did a great job of passing to no one or to MC, MC first goal was a self inflicted bad pass. I would like to see them look more like the team that played Maine and Dartmouth than whatever is showing up on the ice (1-6-1) since the New Year. Sadly based on how they have been playing where are they going to find wins the rest of the way?
Home vs PC (.733/.680) - winners of 7 straight all against Maine, BU & BCH&H vs BU (.444/.481) - maybe 1 win here? BU has been up a down even picking up a L against fellow cellar dweller UMLH&H vs Umass (.569/.615) - in December this looked like a soft spot in UNH's schedule, since the New Year they are on a tear eating up cupcakesH&H vs PC (.733/.680) - see aboveAway vs UConn (.622/.660) - do you think they get the rug pulled on them twice at Home vs UNH. Looking back that UNH win might have been UConn over confidenceHome vs Umass (.569/.615) - see above
So I see 1 potential win... and against BU (which is shocking) is there another in there?
My recollection from Coach's Saturday post game television interview is that so many players were sick the team did not practice Thursday. As to the out of shape - the team was sick last week with barely a 1/3 of the team practicing on Thursday. This.I do not agree with that assessment, as we dominated zone time in the second period and played fairly even in the other two periods. We simply cannot finish by putting the puck in the net, which has been a perennial problem for over a decade.
Agreed that shoot out goals do not count for individual stats in college hockey or in the NHL. But could come in useful for a tie breaker in the final regular season team standings.
At least that extra point tonight got us momentarily out of the HEA basement for a few days, a point ahead of UMass-Bazin.
Believe UNH is 1-14 vs BU in the Souza era.H&H vs BU (.444/.481) - maybe 1 win here? BU has been up a down even picking up a L against fellow cellar dweller UML
