I can’t see them eating into winter break more than they have with tournaments between Christmas and New Years etc. My guess is you will see more of the random mid week games (usually seems like Tuesday is the most popular). They will be lightly attended, but I presume the same could be said with winter break games with students being off in break etc.38 is better especially if it (mostly) fills in the Christmas break and makes a "bye" week 1 game instead of 0.
I also agree though that complete bye weekends would mostly go away. And those would turn into a one game weekend on Friday/Saturday.
Compared to some of the junior leagues/CHL, the college hockey schedule is pretty light in terms of number of games.
It may benefit UNH, as I imagine coach salaries would largely stay the same, but you’d get increased revenue from the additional few home games. This assumes a certain number of butts in seats though. And with mid week games/sparsely populated I don’t know what the “break even” number is.
