Ha, ha, then why did you bring up Hanlon’s Razor, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Grey’s Law then?I figured my views were already clear. I don't see corruption and I don't see malice. What I see looks like incompetence.
My feelings align with some historical others ... About incompetence looking like malice and corruption.Ha, ha, then why did you bring up Hanlon’s Razor, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Grey’s Law then?![]()
Thanks for sharing, Dan! Seems like a solid get. Averaging over a point per game in the competitive QMJHL (similar to Tournas) is certainly promising to see. The recent draft pedigree is also promising. He’s only 19 this year (a year younger than Tournas) so maybe one more year in Jrs? But to be honest I hope they bring him to Durham as we need all the goal scorers we can get. Hopefully at least one or two of them translates over to the college game.Cinnamoroll posted a new UNH commitment in the CHL thread. Émile Guité, a 6-2, '07, left-shot winger from suburban Montreal and the Chicoutimi Sagueneens. He's Chicoutimi's fifth-leading scorer with 32-33--65 in 59 games this season, plus 8-6--14 in 19 QMJHL Playoff games. Fifth-round pick of Anaheim in 2025...
Cursory research informs that he is not the son of Guité who must not be named, but I can not confirm there is no relation. They're both from Montreal...
"Guité has some special elements that could enable him to go on a hot streak over the next seasons: His feel for offensive positioning and shot. Constantly adjusting his footwork and surveying the ice, he finds seams in coverage and can fire powerfully off the pass even surrounded by defenders. He can also help his team away from the puck."

He does retain JR eligibility, but with his draft status, production, pedigree and development needs (college weight room) I wonder if he's not in the mix for this fall? If I'm correct he'd put UNH at 26 bodies, pending a third goalie - but they have a few players who might still qualify as dedicated student-athletes...
LOL ... I suspect that reference may have wooshed over many younger posters' heads. Wasn't that long ago his would-be "dad" was an assistant at UMaine IIRC?Cinnamoroll posted a new UNH commitment in the CHL thread. I think he was also a candidate for Head Coach when Barr was hiredLOL ... I suspect that reference may have wooshed over many younger posters' heads. Wasn't that long ago his would-be "dad" was an assistant at UMaine IIRC?
I'm trying to remember...was it Guite who went knee to knee on Garrett Stafford, right in front of the UNH.bench? I could have that totally wrong but I do recall a nasty, cheap Guite hit on somebody...LOL ... I suspect that reference may have wooshed over many younger posters' heads. Mark Mowers, circa 1997, at The Whitt, I believe as part of the since-defunct Governors' Cup. Almost 30 years ago.I'm trying to remember...was it Guite who went knee to knee on Garrett Stafford, right in front of the UNH.bench? Classic "fencing response" when Mowers went down.Mark Mowers, circa 1997, at The Whitt, I believe as part of the since-defunct Governors' Cup. Almost 30 years ago.
Nasty hit from behind, IIRC Guite got a match penalty, which made no difference as UNH was already pounding UMaine.
Prime "Champions of November" era Wildcats firewagon hockey. SO much fun to watch.
Makes me feel very old ...
Oh dang. That's right, Chuck. Thx. Now remember that night. I knew there was a good reason I hate that cheap shot prick...Mark Mowers, circa 1997, at The Whitt, I believe as part of the since-defunct Governors' Cup. Almost 30 years ago.

Good for him. Avs had 8 defensemen on their playoffs roster, one was already down, and supposedly Makar is day-to-day for the West Conference Finals, so even if he sits out a game or two, the Avs still have 6 "healthy" d-men, and now Gagne is the 9th rostered D-man. It's possible he could dress if the Avs go with 7 defenders and 11 forwards against Vegas (anything's possible) and Makar doesn't dress. Plus, the AHL Eagles are also still playing, and Gagne isn't a top 2 pairing guy for them. If there was a realistic chance someone was going to be needed, and actually suit up against Vegas, it'd be other guys ahead of Gagne.I just got a note from my brother in Colorado that Alex Gagne practiced with the Avs today. In 58 regular season AHL games this season, Alex had 1 goal and 12 assists, along with 2 goals in 12 playoff games.
