UNH Hockey 2023 Off Season Thread Turn and Face the Strange

The only ones blowing up bud light were the "marketing" people. 25% decrease in sales is a lot of Bengies. I have been saying for years that the AD should have taken the sad UNH hockey story to the Paul College and let them dissect the financial problem. The same will be done at many business schools across the country for Anheuser-Busch.

After the Whistle, I am all for respectful communication and meeting with or talking to whomever at the school. They werent interested in reaching out after I didnt renew. The VERY old adage that someone else will take his place. Unfortunately, I couldnt give the tickets away to people so I knew the "someone" wasnt really a person, just a figment of the Admin's memories from the late 90's and 2000's. That UNH is still able to fill the barn to 50% (maybe), is a testament to the fans desire for better times AND the willingness to support the team. Up to the AD to give us a Coach and a product worth supporting.

I got this email a while back and expressed some of my concerns (team performance, lack of parking, no deposit, ect) and did not get anywhere. My guess is that these are students working the ticket office for work study/summer job and this is part of their tasks. I was unsuccessful in engaging said emailer and after my second response indicating my displeasure have not heard back.

I would say try the meeting but my guess is the person you talk with will have no say.

I'm certain the the meeting will not be with a "decision maker", and this is only a telephone "meeting", essentially an appointment to get a sales pitch.

I also got this email, along with a number of phones calls asking me to renew. I responded to the email with my reasons (and there were several) for being hesitant to renew, I did get a response. They thanked me for reaching out and indicated the are "compiling concerns to bring forward as we want to show support to our season ticket holders". The email also said "they hope to have more information on parking soon". The lines of communication do seem improved this year, which is a good sign, but as far as changes that move the needle on renewal, not so much. I've had season tickets since the inaugural season of the Whit, it will be a sad day if I ultimately choose not to renew.

Bud Light boycott may dent Anheuser-Busch InBev's U.S. profits by 26%: JPMorgan - MarketWatch

Moral of the story? Ignore your best customers to chase Fruit Loops, be ready for exile to the Island of Misfit Toys ...

Soooo hearing that we are picking up a forward from a D1 school soon to be named...as per Twitter/ C-H-C reporting...

It's Martin Lavins from Latvia was committed to St Cloud St and flipped to UNH for this coming year. Soeza's really stock piling the Europeans hopefully a couple pan out.

Pollyanna here and I ain’t feeling it. Does this require scholarship $? As so many of you note on here, appears to be another bottom 6 based on his numbers to date. Sure hope I am wrong!

Gotta hand it to the Panthers...Took down the top two teams with the best record the B's and now the Canes.
hey if I'm MS7 I'm using them as an example of what #8 really is capable of...Im being serious here....

Finished 43 points behind Boston...19 behind the Canes.

Now it's up the Bruce Cassidys Vegas Knights to stop 'em
if they get by the Stars which seems likely.

Our UNH NHL connection for this year has come to an end.

Anyone seen a schedule yet?

Just the home and home with UMass-Flagship. Maybe August for the rest of schedule?

And the away trip to RIT which even HR will skip due to the distance...and it'sThanksgiving weekend (like that has ever stopped me ha!)

Just spent a few days in Rochester (a week before the PGA - drats, crap planning!!) and the city was pretty pumped by the Calder Cup run of the Americans, who have since advanced to the Eastern Finals against arch-rivals Hershey. Not that the place hasn't seen better days, what with the demise of former titans Kodak, Xerox and others, but it's still got Schenectady beat by a country mile. Plus there is a five-star Dinosaur BBQ that overlooks the scenic Genessee River in downtown, short walk to the arena. Fun place. Shame about the NY Thruway, though.

My NHL picks have been radioactive this Spring, with Carolina finally meeting its match, there's no claim to any insight here this time around. If you're a Bruins' fan, who do you root for now? Keith Tkachuk and the evil Florida Panthers, or Coach Cassidy's Vegas Golden Knights? Not that I have a dog in this fight, but don't you almost have to root FOR Coach Cassidy, against the evil in-conference rival Panthers? Or do you take some solace in the argument that the B's pushed the Panthers to 7 games, and neither Toronto (5) or Carolina (4) even came close?

FWIW 'Ref ... you tried to draw a serious parallel between the 8th seed Panthers and a future MS7-coached UNH team, kind of as an inspiration thing. I get what you're trying to say, but keep in mind (1) Florida won the President's Cup last year - best RS record in the NHL - so they were not your typical #8 seed; (2) NHL 8 seeds tend to be over .500 teams, not cellar-dwellers like our recent 'Cats have been; and (3) there are no Keith Tkachuk, Sasha Barkov or Sergei Bobrovsky comparisons currently skating for UNH. Just because HEA goes through the charade of their MBPGEGAM "playoffs" doesn't make the bottom of the HEA barrel comparable to an NHL 8th playoff seed that was only as low as 8th because of underperforming for the first 4 months of the season.

But it's Souza's ship he's riding to the bottom, so he gets to handle the messaging ...
