UNH Hockey 2023 Off Season Thread Turn and Face the Strange

With all due respect, 'Watcher ... I seriously doubt Peart was considering cross-dressing, narcissistic, self-promoting whack-a-doodles like Jenner and Mulvaney back in the early '90's when he wrote than song.

Unless, of course, you think it's all the same ... ?!?

The plum is Tyson Dyck, but I'm guessing they have eyes for better schools. Do you think the Canadian's GM is going to send his son to UNH to develop?

Players develop at UNH...this is something we throw around alot here. In your (and others) mind...what does player development really mean? They are better than they were when they come in? They go pro?

Surely it means more than meeting their future partners...

I don't know, not a threat to my masculinity in either case. But then again, anything that causes people to drink less Bud Lite is also good, so.....

As for development, you may be right. I've always railed against great teams being development machines, ignoring that they get all the great players and probably have the same development percentage as a bad team that gets bad players. Think Alabama football as an example.
But they do get more exposure, and in a word of mouth sport, probably get more opportunities. Mac Jones at U.Illinois is a fourth round pick.
Right now the NCHC and Big 10 seem all the rage.

I think that this past year’s Captain was the rare exception where a player at UNH played better (scored more points) than his previous seasons. There must be others over the past decade, but I think that they are few and far between. To me that means that our coaching staff has not been developing players on the ice.

No, but I am sure that you do. And I do not watch Faux News either.

It may surprise some on here, but I've cut WAY back on my past Fox viewing in the last 30 days, when Fox went RINO. Unfortunately, the freaks gotta keep freakin', so since you're not a WSJ guy either Snives, here's some stuff from a suitably "old school" California guy named Victor Davis Hanson, which may enlighten some folks who prefer your propaganda straight-up from the MSM, which has given most of this stuff a good stern leaving alone:

The Left Has Pushed the Envelope - VDH’s Blade of Perseus (victorhanson.com)

Anyone up for a fun summertime story?

I saw he was in portal, it's a shame they went with another 20 year old that had 39 points in 100 games in the USHL over the last 2 years. Maybe he'll be a surprise and prove me wrong.

If I had a dollar for every time someone has said that on this board about any aspect of UNH Hockey over the last 8+ years, I'd have retired comfortably 3 years ago. And no one has been proven wrong BTW ...

Aw, c'mon Chuck. For all of the lamenting you did last year when we picked up Ryan Black from Babson, didn't he at least raise your eyebrows somewhat? :-)

So what you are saying is that after Fox paid billions for lying to its viewers, and it caused them to cut back on the lies to its viewers, you think they are tell a more liberal story? And your response was to stop watching them until they start lying again? You may want to reflect on that.

I don't think it was an issue of UNH going with Lavins (who is a decent prospect), rather than Dyck .

I think i'd rather have Dyck and your words were he's the plum of the portal.

I like him better than Hughes. Am surprised Ellis and he left U.Mass. Worrisome that kids are leaving for NCHC/Big 10, unless it was really Carvel's choice after a disappointing season.

Dershowitz: Carroll Case & Verdict Littered With ‘So Many Mistakes’ – One America News Network (oann.com)

As someone who literally has to deal with the NY justice system on a daily basis, I can tell you without hesitation that what was once a simple clown show has turned into a legal three-ring circus.

Exhibit One: whose side do you take in the Left's latest efforts to defend scum of the earth criminals?

(1) Millions, not "billions" 'Watcher. Not even one. But the side deal to sideline Carlson arguably gets it to 10 figures;
(2) How much do you figure the MSM, NYT and the rest of the gallery of stooges owe everyone for "lying to their viewers" about Trump/Russia collusion, the Biden laptop, 10% for the big guy, etc. etc. etc.? Considering the damages caused in the ongoing last 2-plus years of economic incompetence by the Magoo Administration, that calculation hits at least 13 figures, if not 14 figures. Take your time working out that estimate, please;
(3) Your side throws a thrombo when (maybe) 2-3 networks don't fall in line with the mainline hardcore Dem propaganda, and conspire to get the most compelling conservative voice in the country thrown off the air ... but WE'RE the totalitarian tyrants in the big picture?!? Riiiight ...

Hey, only 4+ months left 'til we get to talk hockey again. If only the AD did what she should have done, that would have given us grist for the offseason mill.

Anyways ... off to backwoods Maine to help Tucker rebuild his home studio for his arrival on Twitter. Tally ho!!! ;-)

Panel of UNH "Insider Insights." A great opportunity to speak to the architect of the "succession plan." I'm tempted to register just to ask Coach Umile about the total failure of his successor plan, and what lessons AD Rich could learn from those failures. Unfortunately I will be on the road.

Hear from this amazing group of alumni right here in Durham! The alumni panel will be held on June 3rd inside Hamilton Smith Hall. For more information and to register, click below! Registration https://abs-0.twimg.com/emoji/v2/svg/27a1.svg http://bit.ly/3MCyPbT #BeTheRoar

We are excited to welcome you back to Durham, NH and share insight about the inner workings of UNH Athletics and the state of college athletics through our panel of UNH coaches and alumni! The athletics panel will be moderated by UNH Director of Athletics, Allison Rich, and features former UNH men's hockey coach, Dick Umile '72, UNH field hockey head coach, Robin Balducci '85, UNH football head coach, Rick Santos '08, and UNH women's basketball head coach, Kelsey Hogan '13. The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A session for your chance to engage with some UNH Athletics insiders!

Not that I think Coach Umile is capable of that sort of introspection or actual "insights."

I find it amusingly interesting and telling that Coach Umile is and Coach Souza is not on this panel. Except for my daughter's graduation I haven't been in Durham on a Saturday morning since I was a student, but this might get me there. Hoping they webcast/record.

It appears that Dick is the first panel member listed in watcher’s quoted material, unless I am misreading. Unfortunately, I will be in Quebec that weekend, eh, looking to interview Jacques “Rabbit” Porriveau.
