Yep he sure can! But what a weekend the kid had with 4 goals and an assist. Totally hear ya tho not a great time to take a penalty....
It’s part of the package. Not saying taking a penalty with no time on the clock is ever a good thing, but neither is backing down from mischief and thuggery.

I messaged the Cat Pack Captains and told them to do it and finally it got.going!

HR approves of this weekend lol! If you had told me we were going to sweep Maine I would have told you to get your head examined !!

Whatever the mind meld sesh MS7 and Co had with Cy and the gang paid off...

Now...keep doing more of that 'Cats!

Ps to Maine fans sorry for that lame FU cheer from our student section. Again.
What’s the matter with you? Don’t apologize lol. “Rip off his arms and legs and beat him with the bloody stumps, UNH!”

A point not made here yet. UNH only rolled 4 d men from the point that Reid left after the hit to the head. I do not believe I saw Hahn on the ice after that and we were rolling the 28-8 and 20-15 pairings for basically the last 35 minutes of the game. Get those 4 boys some oxygen and a practice off tomorrow, they earned it.

Coach Souza basically said this in his post game interview. He mentioned three players. Gagne, Jenson, Huard I think.

Ah, was at the game so I didn't see what he had to say. Hopefully he didn't leave out Lindner, he was carrying just as much of that load, lol.

Btw..in addition to all of the reverie it was great seeing JvR there tonight with his daughter!

Ps...looking back to UVM games Harrison Blaisdell has had a good run with 5 goals, 1 being a shortie. Also...as was mentioned already
who does not LOVE the game of Marty Lavins??? He never quit all weekend (well none of them did)...

You bet. UMaine took a pounding this weekend, and UNH is arguably arisen from the (Lawlor) dead. Bring on UMass.

I'll say this much ... it's a likeable, hard-working group of players who seem to genuinely like each other, and play for each other, which does make a difference. It would be a shame to see this group come up short of Boston, they showed a lot of brass when some of us (moi for sure) counted them out. I'm not sure why some folks seem to be resigned that they can't match up with UMass, when UMaine is a better team, and UNH just swept them? Then again, I had some brave talk about BC recently, and that did not go so well ...

... Dale, I'm just SO confused at this point, every logical bone in my body is screaming out that this is yet another mirage, and at some point in these next 4 weekends, the usual ghosts of UNH Past will show themselves, and I'll be doing the Charlie Brown "blockhead-kicking-football" crap after letting myself get sucked in. What's worse is, BOTH of my teams are doing this to me now (see DRW), but if I need to put my trust in one of either Souza or Yzerman, well ... that's not a very close call now, is it? But being a greedy bast!d, I want some real postseason play for both the 'Cats and the Wings. Let's get this UNH thing sorted first, please.

Putting that all aside ... I'm kinda shocked at UMaine letting this happen to them. Barr has some work to do, and pronto ...

Iâ??m not sure mirage is the right word to describe this team Chuck. Inconsistent might a little more accurate. I will say a sweep of the weekend series with Maine was not on my bingo card. UNH knocking on the door of 20 wins this season was not on my bingo card either. But here we are. We can only hope and pray a first round game up in Orono is not going to happen because that wouldnâ??t end well for UNH I think.

I was for the Jumbotron before I was against ……. oops, I meant to write ……. I was against shrinking the rink before I was for shrinking the rink, which I think helped slow down the Nadeau bros this weekend at the Whitt, at least from what I watched in the Friday night game on NESN.

As we know, not even sweeping Maine at the Whitt improved our 17th in PWR, although it dropped Maine a couple notches in PWR. In playing around with the Customization PWR at CHN, had we beaten Army, we would be 15th in PWR. Had we beaten Army and beaten Yukon at the Whitt, we would be 10th in PWR. Had we beaten Army, Yukon, and first game at UVM, we would be 8th in PWR. Had we beaten Army, Yukon, UVM, and Mack at Lawler, we would be 6th in PWR, and likely a lock for the NCAA’s.

What a shame. That's not exactly "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" stuff with those four. BIG opportunity, lost.

Some teams apparently need to play under (oft-time self-inflicted) "backs to the wall" pressure to perform to their best. Maybe that's what we saw this past weekend in Durham? Likewise, knowing their tickets are likely (though not yet definitely) punched to both Boston and the NCAA's may explain UMaine's recent struggles? Motivation, desperation, or lack thereof. Personally, I'd like nothing more than a UMaine-UNH rematch, regardless of site, with all the marbles on the line. I bet MS7 does too ... if not, he's not the guy for the job, anyway.

Why don't we try on the WIS Competitive Matrix and see where we all think UNH currently stands?

Very good team: wins regularly against cupcakes, and wins more often than not against non-cupcakes
Good/decent team: also wins regularly against cupcakes, but only breaks even against non-cupcakes
=====UNH 2023/2024??=====
Mediocre team: wins more than it loses to cupcakes, and loses more than it wins against non-cupcakes
Cupcake team: breaks even (or worse) against other cupcakes, and upsets a select few non-cupcakes

I put UNH in between the two middle tiers right now. They've lost to too many "cupcakes" to be a solid "good/decent" team, and beaten a few too many very good/good teams to be a solid "mediocre" team at this point, which is where things were trending in recent weeks until the UMaine sweep. What's left over these next three weekends are "good/decent" (UMass), "very good" (BC) and "mediocre" (UMass Lowell). If you find a way to four (4) wins out of those six games, you're a 20 RS win program, and you're probably a solid "good/decent" team on the cusp of NCAA consideration, depending on a LOT of moving parts elsewhere. Unless you have plans to upset BC in one of those two games, it means you have to run the table on the other 4 games against "Flagship" and the Lanny Gare School of Advanced Suburban Criminal Studies.

Because putting all other things aside, barring an amazing run in Durham, and/or amazing collapse(s) elsewhere in the top tier of D-1 hockey as it now stands, UNH is gonna have to get to Boston AND then win the thing to qualify for the national tournament. A good 20 RS win team team could pull off the Boston pieces of the puzzle, but a sub-20 RS win program is just not consistently good enough to be able to pull it off.

Can it be done? After this weekend, yes, I think so. Will it be done? Head says "no", not consistently good enough.

The heart can be talked into all kinds of incredible sh!t, though, so I'm hoping the UNH kids put their heart into it consistently enough to pull off the amazing. Because someday, we're entitled to an "amazing" moment.

Why not us? Why not now?? (and this is the anatomy of wishing a pipe dream into existence by the sheer force of will) ...
