UNH 2024/2025 Goldberg Edition

I hope the Cat's remember the series with Uconn last year. Crushed them at their barn and lost a heartbreaker at home the following night. Here are some stats going into this weekend. Mind you, Uconn has played 1 extra game.

UNH: 10-4-3 (2-3-2) UConn: 9-8-1 (4-6-1)

G: Uconn: 57 UNH: 55

GPG: UNH: 3.24 Uconn: 3.17

GA: UNH: 41 Uconn: 49

GAPG: UNH: 2.41 Uconn: 2.72

RPI: UNH: 11th Uconn: 17th

PWR: UNH: T-10th Uconn: 15th

Strength of Schedule: Uconn: 7th UNH: 11th

Lead Goal Scorers:

Uconn: Joey Muldowney/ Jake Percival - 8 Goals

UNH: Ryan Conmy - 10 Goals

This will most likely be a split series like years past because these teams always play well against each other. But like everyone else on here, 6 points is needed not only for the HE standings, but to possibly climb more in the PWR. GO CATS!!!

No more cupcakes, the real season starts tonight. While I consider myself less optimistic than some, I acknowledge that UNH is playing well. Before the season began, someone predicted that Jared Whale would post similar numbers to Jakob Hellsten. I was very skeptical of this prediction, but it has proven to be spot on. Kudos to whoever predicted that, and apologies for being too lazy to scroll back to give due credit. UNH does an excellent job of limiting opposing shots, which seems to benefit the goalies. Based on my observations, I'd still choose Hellsten between the two, but the statistics show they are essentially equal.

I believe it was Dan who said that about Da Whale and Hellsten?

Just tell them "do you know who I am"?!?. Also heading over there tonight.

So I.called and was told the ticket office "doesn't control" that lot..so we will do just that ha! If you don't ask you dont get so let's see.what happens....

In my past experience they have been cool about parking there so here's hoping...maybe see you there!

I mean how do you resist 1.00 dog night and a calendar!!!

Maine has only one scorer in the top 30 (yes just one). Providence has only one scorer in the top 30 (yes just one). Most of the higher level scorers in the conference have played more games. One could argue that Leclerc, Devlin, and Conmy are all top tier players and Conmy is a star. The defense is, in my opinion, the second best in the conference. PK is 7th in the country (yes in the country). The fish will be flying early tonight to continue the countdown to 20 wins. This is far from a mediocre team. Top recruit Macpherson cant crack the lineup because they have talent going 4 lines deep. My opinion is as pragmatic!! (and forever optimistic)!

I don't think Comny is a star in the world of college hockey. He is a good player and sticks out on a team that is not loaded. Your 1-2 defense is solid but 3-4 while better than last year is still scary. The power play is 40th in the country and never changes. It is simple to defend with a basic 4 man box as there is minimal movement.

As for Macpherson, again definition of top is subjective. Is that for the team or in college hockey? And the reasons he has not cracked the starting lineup in my opinion is MS7 favoring upper classman, like the assistant captain who is on that line.

Conmy- 23/24- 31 pts
24/25- 20 pts (on pace for 44 pts in 36 games)
JVR- 07/08- 34 pts
08/09- 40 pts (36 games played)
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Conmy must be scoring because he is on a lessor team and the PP sucks eh??

Yeah, I was one of those who posted early in this thread that Jared Whale was another good goalie get for MS7 from the transfer portal based on a positive reply to a question that I posted in the Alaska Anchorage thread. No apologies necessary, teez, as ours is one of the most heavily posted threads (is that a thing?) on this entire site. I also predicted 20 total wins this season, as did Chuck, in my case based on our team being essentially the same as last season.

Unfortunately, I think that the two ties instead of wins against NU and Mac earlier this season, also noted by Dan, has made 20 wins now a far reach. But as I posted earlier I still think we have a chance to make the fourth tier at the Manchvegas regional even with fewer than 20 wins and not making it to the Garden. Our game tonight was originally scheduled on NESN but has been replaced with UMass-Flagship at NU, which I will watch and hope for a tie that would get us out of sole possession of the HEA basement, IF WE WIN. Go Cats!

He gets the most TOI and power play time. I’m not saying he isn’t good but not a star. And JVR isn’t a great comparison as he did not fulfill his expectations in his two years. Especially year two where I’m sure he didn’t want to be there but the Flyers had him stay.

also zero PPG and a shooting percentage that’s is paltry.

I think that JvR was dealing with a wrist injury for most of the second semester of his year two, yet he was the only player that I remember Dick allowing to stand at the end of the bench the entire game. He never appeared to be a player who “didn’t want to be there” to me.

Well shucks at least I got my calendar and saw the infamous Chuck Murray!!! Wonder how much TyMuz enjoyed his trip back to Durham?

Where to begin….

Horrible special teams. That daunted PK

Total lack of effort. Cronin waiting for the puck constantly along the boards being beat

Comny dump and forgetting the chase part

Gagne on the last goal too busy wrestling in the corner and then overstating the crease on the kill.

Devlin not picking up the guy on the shorty.

Maybe the concerned group with this team knows what they are talking about.

Plenty of video to watch on the way to Storrs.

I still think that we have a chance to leapfrog NU for 10th place in HEA regular season, as the Huskies did not look good tonight against UMass-Flagship, which looked awesome. Our second game against Mac may be tough also, as the Warriors dismantled the vaunted Iggles tonight.

Striving to jump NU for 10th is great goal. Currently 15th and out of the regionals.

Sounds like Muszelik was dead lucky in the third.

I'd say he was...but agree with Norbert he always had/ seemed to have decent clean up...

But overall just an ugly game for UNH..looking forward to your comments Mr. Murray!!
