UND @ SCSU: Didn't People Used To Protest This Series?

Re: UND @ SCSU: Didn't People Used To Protest This Series?

I knew Grimaldi had impure thoughts! This is weird, someone does a masturbation joke before I do.

Running With the Dogs: The Sears catalog was in the olden days. How do you know about that anyway? My mom always wondered why some of the pages were stuck together.

Euro's link explains it. It's from the Simpsons, which is a program on a newfangled box called the tellyvision.

It looks like Grimaldi is going to have season ending knee surgery according to Schlossman. He will be eligible for a medical redshirt, but it is unlikely he would be here 5 years to use it. Another tough break for North Dakota this season.

It will be interesting to see how this shakes out... wonder what would have happened if he would have elected to have this surgery 2 or 3 months ago.

Not sure. It's amazing where North Dakota is at right now given the amount of players out (and the quality of those players). That being said, it would take a near miracle for this team to make the NCAA Tournament at this point (even winning 8 of last 12 WCHA and making the Final Five would put them on the cusp, but would probably not be enough).

Re: UND @ SCSU: Didn't People Used To Protest This Series?

Here's Schlossman's quote about the team right now...

Brad Schlossman said:
They essentially go into this series with a 1st line, a 4th line playing 2nd line, scratches playing 3rd line and without a fourth line.

In June, UND likely projected Grimaldi, Miller, O'Donnell, Parks, Rodwell and St. Clair to make up 2nd and 3rd lines.

If North Dakota gets close to an NCAA Tournament bid, it might be Hakstol's best coaching job yet.

I'd want to know that too. Why did it take so long for him to get to this point? Why did he finally decide he couldn't make it back this year?

Or even not rushed to get into the lineup. Playing against BC and UMTC did him no favors. Hindsight is 20/20, of course.
Has he needed surgery all along? Because really... if he did, what a waste of time.

Apparently the docs told him that he could have season-ending surgery back in November, or try to rest it for 6-8 weeks. He tried to come back, but apparently after the 6-8 weeks the knee was not good enough for competition. As a result, he'll have the surgery and should be ready for next season.

I know at one point they thought he could make a recovery without surgery... obviously that is not the case now. Too bad, the little we saw of him on the ice was pretty special.

He was definitely the most dynamic underclassman that we had (arguably on the whole team) and he was not at 100%. Hopefully he heals up well and will help dominate in the last season that North Dakota is part of the WCHA.

Re: UND @ SCSU: Didn't People Used To Protest This Series?

Whew, now we don't have to worry about him for this year. I figured he be back for the weekend against UMD.

Don't worry he will rise again on April 8, ascend to California and sitteth upon the right hand of his father, Rocco Sr.

Perhaps for his second coming. I guess we will all have to just wait and see. On the plus side every year we can celebrate his birthday by getting presents for each other.

He's not developing in college. He should probably just go pro. ;) j/k

Bummer for him. If he takes the red shirt he can still take a shot at the ROY, right? I look forward to seeing him play full speed.

Re: UND @ SCSU: Didn't People Used To Protest This Series?

Guess he couldn't make up the credits and play this semester. Did he go back to the USHL or stay in school?

It wasn't making up credits - something about they couldn't verify on-line credits so they wouldn't clear him to play. As far as I know he is still in scholl and will be playing next year.
