UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

You're a foolish individual. Shawn Hunwick absolutely stole that game. Had nothing to do with Sue's coach.
You clearly have no understanding whatsoever when it comes to the Minnesota-North Dakota rivalry.

Allow me to fill you in: for many years, Minnesota made the NCAA tournament (and oftentimes, made the frozen four). Like clockwork, they'd lose. Did it matter whose fault it was? No. What mattered was the Sioux fans constantly giving Woog crap for failing and calling the team "golden chokers". Happy is simply applying the same logic to North Dakota's failings. You outsiders can sit there and tell us that Hakstol isn't to blame, but we don't care. Turn-about is fair play, after all.

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

Doesn't make it any less foolish.

Isn't this whole board "foolish" at times?

Plenty of people said the same things about Woog. It's starting to become quite a pattern for the Sioux, whether it can be blamed on Hakstol or not.

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

Thank you, michigan.

Wolverines now 3-0 against the big, bad wcha

If hakstol can't win with that team...

Minnesota beat Michigan, and they were in the WCHA when they did it.

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

North Dakota fan saluting a brilliant defensive victory by Michigan.

I could have seen a goaltending collapse losing this game for the Sioux in a shootout. I never imagined a 1 goal lead in the first period could be held for the win.

At first I thought the Sioux were just off their game (passes missing the mark, low probability shots on goal, no flow) but came to realize that this was being forced upon them by the effort of the Michigan defense.

Good luck on Saturday against UMD. I like your chances.

Disappointing end to a great season for the Sioux. Outstanding goaltending by Shawn Hunwick, I hope for a different story Saturday night.

And you're clearly proof why the majority of college hockey fans hate your program and its classless fans. Gopher fans really shouldn't be running their e-mouths when their program is slipping into also-ran status. And before you go thumping your chest over the Dogs lack of national titles, don't worry, tUMD will be back down in the dregs with the Gophers next year.

Whatever, Kettle.
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
MN never played all of their tournament games in MN on their way to national titles.

In 2002, they had to go to Michigan and beat CC to advance to the frozen four.
In 2003, the frozen four was in Buffalo.

So there. :p

Are you seriously crying for the Sioux?

Ever heard of Stockholm syndrome?

Okay, the Sioux were just the victims of a huge and entertaining upset. Let's call a truce for just one night. :D

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

Congrats to Michigan. Their goalie really stood-up tonight and they played very well defensively. I'm not sure how many 2 on 1's or 3 on 1's we had in the game..but Michigan backchecked extremely well, blocked shots, and their goalie made the big saves needed to win. Nice win. If Michigan can shut down the top line for UMD on Saturday and stay out of the box they will win their 10th National Championship. SIOUX seniors...thank you for a great season and good luck!

Seriously? I'm simply pointing out what UND fans did to us in the past and that Happy is well within his rights to return fire. I don't care if you hate my program or its fans. You're nothing more than a sanctimonious **** since you cannot grasp simple logic or what defines a rivalry.

A three year NCAA drought hardly puts us on the level of the UMDs of the world. If you had any sense of hockey history, you'd know even the best programs go through these downturns. So I will continue running my "e-mouth", thankyouverymuch. A rival just failed big-time on the national stage yet again. I'll enjoy it. Just as their fans would enjoy seeing MN **** down its leg. Apparently you fans of lesser programs don't understand this concept.

MN will be back before too long. UMD on the other hand might have to wait another 20+ years before reaching a national final.

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

Hakstol looked constipated that entire third period.

The Sioux thoroughly beat the Wolverines in EVERY facet of the game, except the scoreboard. The better team didn't win, but that's why you play the games and why college hockey is so great.

Funny you say that, i agree, as a michigan fan, the best player tonight was Shaun Hunwick, but other than that, UND was in charge throughout.

Go Blue!!

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

UND didn't destroy everyone for a month and a half. Both games at the F5 were close. You may remember one of them went to double OT.

I just think they will have the same game plan for UMD that they had for CC and UND. Just an opinion. At this point, UMD has the pride of the WCHA vs. the Big 10 riding on its back. Beat 4 WCHA teams in route to a championship? Not acceptable…

I think of the 1996 title game. This time, to right the world, the little guy wins… people (hockey players in particular) with bad haircuts can feel safe in their own skin… a school basically in Wisconsin calling itself UMD can hold their heads high… acceptance and diversity spread throughout the country…

DG shuts down his blog… Donald saves my bastard status by admitting he’s my real dad… Donna asks me out on a date… Chuck stops stalking me… Goon repeals the restraining order… I stop stalking Shane… Swami comes out of exile… Canada becomes the 51st state (followed days later by Puerto Rico)… Twitch Boy accepts my friend request on face book…

These are the things that keep me up at night. Sorry for the rant…

I'm not trying to take anything away from your team. Great performance in getting the job done.

That's hockey and why single elimination hockey tourneys can be so much fun.

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

The Michigan coaches prepared UM to play a style that would win the game.
Red just wins, he is a great coach.

With that said, here's hoping UMD's first line runs wild on Saturday night.

Go UMD, Looking forward to a great game.
