UND at UW: Let's get hostile, let's get abusive

Re: UND at UW: Let's get hostile, let's get abusive

Probably a good idea to learn under Hakstol if this weekend is any indication. He taught his players to actually show up.

yes, Wisconsin probably wasn't ready in a way playing 7 frosh or 8 or whatever it is now each night. that is, ready for playing toe to toe w/a team like nodak, the kids for UW were like deer in headlights for huge stretches of the weekend

however I give credit where credit is due. imo nodak is the #1 team in the country skills-wise and UW isn't close to that right now.

your coach still sucks, and his methods are...unsound...;)

Re: UND at UW: Let's get hostile, let's get abusive

You sound exactly like the kooky lady I had to sit by on Friday night.

She complained that we don't play fair after we scored the lone goal in the game, but it was quite humourous considering the lack of scoring chances on all the PP time UW got.

Re: UND at UW: Let's get hostile, let's get abusive

how about playing w/in the rules?

as for your little insult there...I'll play you in hockey anyday. keep your head up though I learned a bit watching the sux under hacktsol;)
You teach kids to skate with the head down. Sister, if you would like to play me hockey, I would knock you out.

yeah, "I play you hockey"

take a seat. if there's a poster game in chicago or milwaukee I'll be there. wear you sux jersey so I know who to run through the boards:)

Re: UND at UW: Let's get hostile, let's get abusive

Hakstol encourages a brand of hockey where his players play to the edge and *some* choose to play over that edge. I don't respect hakstol at all, nor do I respect the players that play for him who when they see a guy with his head down choose not to let up but to skate hard and blow the guy up with potentially far more serious consequences than you seem willing to acknowledge or admit.

You seem to be forgetting the cheap hack that Craig Smith put on DU forward Zucker earlier this year (Fri night DU/UW game). He first tripped Zucker into the boards, and then when Zucker was attempting to get up, Smith just clocked him with his gloves/stick right across the face (well after the whistle, of course). I'm sure you can go back to the Score Thread for that game and see the reactions to that hit if you don't remember it. :) That hit could have easily knocked Zucker out for a game, and there would have gone your proclamation that UW doesn't knock people out.

I really hope for your sake that UW doesn't knock someone out this season, either with a good check that just hits the player wrong, or a cheap hit. ;)

Re: UND at UW: Let's get hostile, let's get abusive

Excellent result for the Sioux this weekend. Very dominating defensively, and Dell played very well.
Let's see if they can carry that momentum with them to UNO..

Considering all the cheap shots and blatant slashes, trips, holds and interference that NoDak was doing that the refs werent calling (I recall one play where a Badger had the puck and a NoDak player literally speared him right in front of the ref and there was no call). Lets not forget about that BS hit that took out Murray on Friday.
UW doesnt start it, but if any team wants to delve into goonery the Badgers are more than able to play that game.
Its pretty pathetic for any NoDak fan to whine about goonish hits. Your team wrote the book on goonery.

Re: UND at UW: Let's get hostile, let's get abusive

I know I should have the sense to leave this alone, but . . . well. The question is not whether coaches teach hits like the two that resulted in majors Friday night. Kids have been taught to make those hits since they were 10. The question is whether coaches can teach players not to make those hits in light of new rules enforcement. They have to unteach old hockey hitting rules so their teams can play full strength in a faster, more dangerous era. I've been critical of Sioux players for playing dumb, but those two hits were not malicious. Gurt's comments after Friday's game are spot on, IMO.

Exactly.I mean 43-16 in shots? That is what I call getting taken behind the shed.Sioux outplayed them in every department and last night played disiplined after friday nights fiasco of reffing. Huge series with the Balzers team coming up.

Re: UND at UW: Let's get hostile, let's get abusive

obviously since Wisconsin scored two goals all weekend and got dominated in every aspect of the game, including the PP where they spent a lot of time, it's the Sioux's fault for being a goon team and Hakstol is the meanest man in the world.

Or Wisconsin fans should just admit the Sioux were the better team this weekend, are the better team this year, and Wisconsin is not that good.

As for the first part of the bolded, I haven't seen any Wisconsin fan NOT admit that. As for the second part, that is yet to be determined. Sioux fans should know better than any that how you're playing in November isn't always a good indication of how things will go in March.

We'll be fine and hopefully learn from this. Most of our team is underclassmen and if they stay, these results will be flipped in two years.

Congrats on your EPIC weekend. I'm sure you'll be telling you and your sister's children about this in years to come.

You should admit that you're a d-o-u-c-h-e-b-a-g who sucks at life.

The fiasco where they got every call right? Is that the fiasco you're referring to?

The only fiasco was your team's undisciplined play. Your team can be very good if they stay out of the box. Even Hakstol admitted the same.

I am very smart after all. ;)

Seriously though, good that there are other sane posters out there, on either side.

I'm talking the 2 DQ's that were a joke. Believe me being a lifelong Sioux fan I know all to well how their undisiplined play can bite em in their ***.

Nobody has forgotten anything that Smith does, and as an avid reader of out thread, you know that most of us have called him on it. None of us likes his moments of insanity.

I'm not one who calls your program cheap, but it's hard to flip the argument based on one mentally unstable player on the Badgers. Smith is not right, in the head.

Re: UND at UW: Let's get hostile, let's get abusive

Your coach didn't think they were a joke. In today's hockey, like it or not, coz it really doesn't matter whether you like it or not, those are easily DQ's.

Agreed. It sucks because they weren't necessarily "bad" hits, but every ref in the country would have called them majors with dq's.
