Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

That Buffalo would be better than the Vikings. :p

Show me THAT proof!!!!!

No way would I think that.

I do remember laughing at the BrettFavre situation (and I'm still laughing, because many people who didn't want them here are now on the BrettFavre Bandwagon), and saying that I was a Buffalo fan and having TO is less funny than the BrettFavre soap opera. ;)

And I'll laugh next season when BrettFavre does his whole schtick again (unless MN wins the SB, then I think he may really retire for good. The first time he says so in the 2010 offseason. For real. No doubt. Well, maybe. Kinda. Sorta. Maybe not. There's a chance he'll come back. Only if Chili really wants him. And if he can play. For a whole season. Possibly.) :p

this guy was on the BrettFavre bandwagon from the beginning:p

Don't get me wrong, some were (even I thought they'd be a better team because of him). But sooooo many people were going over the top to both extremes, it was (and is) hilarious. :)

I have no argument with the possibility of more Favre drama in the future, but I'll take the move for now. They probably weren't going to solve their future QB situation this year without him so I guess I can't hate on the move.

I loved the people who:
1. OMG!! BrettFavre?! NO! He's a PACKER!!!!! Nonononononononono! Oh, we're winning? YAY! I bow to you BrettFavre!!!

2. I love the Vikes, and everything about them! Except BrettFavre. He's winning games for us, because they can't put 9087873293 players in the box to stop AP? Yay, but I still hate him. He's an exception to my Vikes love. *ing Packer.

3. We don't need him. We're good enough without him.

And the drama, which we don't need to rehash.

Hilarious. :)

To be honest I wasn't a big fan of the move initially, but not because of where he came from but because I wasn't sure what he had left in the tank and didn't know if it was worth it vs. giving TJ or Sage a shot. It's still a weird marriage seeing him in Purple, but fortunately it's turned out right so far. I just wish they had another viable option for next year, but perhaps they'll pull a rabbit out of the hat and make another QB get (trade, FA, draft) that could help them out either next year (if Favre isn't here) and/or beyond.

You are assuming anyone will care...last offseason and this offseason are two different animals and fans will act accordingly. Keep reaching though since well the Bills havent been relevant since Doug Flutie :p

They will care. Just like this season. :p

Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

or you have me who was saying that Jackenfels was not going to make this team succeed since they could stack all 11 players in the box to block Peterson and Jackenfels would still miss the throws and welcomed a guy like Brett Favre to come into this program and give this Vikings squad a winning chance.

Hell, I wanted him here last year!

Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

I just read a post on the Star Tribune's website about pro bowl fan voting.....wow, the vikings are dominating. (granted this is only worth 1/3 of total pro bowl voting)

Vikings in 1st place at their positions:
Adrian Peterson - RB
Naufahu Tahi - FB
Bryant McKinnie - OT
Steve Hutchinson - G
John Sullivan - C
Jared Allen - DE
Pat Williams - DT
Percy Harvin - KR
Ryan Longwell - K
Heath Farwell - Special Teams

Vikings in 2nd place at their positions:
BrettFavre - QB
Kevin Williams - DT
Anthony Herrera - G
Antoine Winfield - CB
Chad Greenway - OLB
Chris Kluwe - P

First of all, Tahi? Sullivan? Herrera?....Seriously...
Second, at first I was thinking, how is Kevin Williams not a first place vote getter??? Then I realized that Pat Williams is the only player ahead of him.:p
BrettFavre is currently the 4th highest vote-getter in the whole NFL, but Drew Brees is the 2nd...

They bumped the Cardinals game to Sunday night, on the newscast they said the Panthers game may get moved from the Sunday night time slot though.

Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

Honestly, this is one of the most complete, although not flashy (which is good in this case), teams I've seen in the NFL in quite a few years. The Super Bowl Pats teams come to mind. Same with Pit and Indy.

They are scoring at a very high rate, defense is solid. You see the Saints, and you see Madden-video-game-type offense. You see the 2000(?) Ravens, you see unreal defense.

You look at this team, it's drive after drive, 30+ points a game for the offense, short drives for the defense, get the job done that's it, sorta games.

IMO, that is what title teams are made of, in general.

Will they get that title? I dunno. But I wouldn't bet against them right now.

Put it this way: Indy is 10-0. The Pats are barely making the wild card. NO is 10-0, and winning every which way possible, somehow. MN is 9-1, and not getting a ton of press besides the usual Favre this and Favre that.

Yet here MN is, basically having won the division already, and probably has the D to stop the other teams I mentioned above.

Barring injuries, or some other wierd happening, I see them in the SB, if not winning it. The weaknesses they have are minor (as to adjustments, maybe the prevent D when they are up big, as in the GB games, etc). The strengths? Color me impressed.

Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

For the first time in . . . ever . . I don't feel like the Vikes will somehow find a way to lose. In the past, no matter how good they were (70s or more recently in the score-happy Moss years), I somehow felt like they would find a way to lose when they needed to win. They might still do that in the playoffs, but I don't feel it's inevitable this time. It's not just Favre--they have so many tools that allow them to bounce back from a big-play mistake. And they once again have a D-line that can prevent the other team from passing their way downfield to the end zone in the 4th Q. I do think Favre has to stay healthy, though. One hit could change a lot.

They'll find a way to rip your heart out. They always do.
