UML Road trip to Denver.

Ah, thanks. Yuck.

We are very lucky at Tsongas.

And I'm glad I'm not driving... Just need to convince the ticket taker that I'm not that drunk (don't plan on repeating 2009 when I downed that Belgian quickly.)

FYI, link to the Visitors Guide on DU website.

Also some Quick Facts about the DU team

Too bad this game wasn't 2 weeks earlier as Magness is being used for the Presidential debate then. Instead DU will be facing the University of British Columbia in an exhibition game in the Pepsi Center, home of the Avalanche in downtown.

Yes, coors products and molson (according to untappd).

Enjoy those DU beers while you can. When you come down to the World Arena in the Springs, you might have to put up with things like New Belgium (Fat Tire, Sunshine Wheat, 1554) and the hometown Bristol Brewing (Laughing Lab, Compass IPA, Red Rocket). Or hit the bars for the harder stuff.

Hint: look for the Bristol stand that has the IPA. ;)

Bristol Laughing Lab. That is all. I SAID, that is all.

Re: UML Road trip to Denver.

Seems like there's going to be a decent turnout in Colorado, given that the school is arranging a couple of pregame gatherings. Should be fun. I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Re: UML Road trip to Denver.

Hi everyone, I have info for anyone interested in taking a bus down to Colorado Springs for the CC game. If we fill the bus up it will be $45 per person. of course if we don't then it will be more and based on the number of people. The bus will pick us up in Denver, drives to the pregame party, pick us up there and drive us to the arena and back to Denver after the game. If any one is interested I would like to take deposits of $20 per person. Send me an email with your name and address and I'll let you know where to send the check to. If not enough people are interested and the price is to high I will send your check back. My email is beachockey@comcast.net. The price includes gratuity. We can also bring our own alcohol on board. Cant wait for the season to start. Go Riverhawks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: UML Road trip to Denver.

For those driving down to Colorado Springs on Saturday, Air Force Academy has a football game at home at 5pm that day. That will likely cause some traffic headaches, so plan accordingly.

Re: UML Road trip to Denver.

Hi everyone, only four weeks until the Denver trip. I have not had much interest in the bus for the trip down to the CC game on Saturday. If anyone is still interested please see me tomorrow night at the First taste. There is still time to make arangements and book the bus. I think it would show the team great support if a bunch of us came in together. See you all tomorrow at the Tsongas.

It didn't appear from my looking around that we'd have enough to do a bus. There are a few people going that would rather just drive themselves.

BTW, and this is in more response to Scott's post, I asked about Air Force game traffic to the CO Springs tourism board and I got a response... semi-generic, but nevertheless. I'll post it this evening when I'm home.

Re: UML Road trip to Denver.

Question for the locals ... with the USAFA having a game at 5, and most of us having to do the trip from Denver to Colorado Springs for the game that night, how bad does traffic get heading down from Denver?

There's a Lowell party at 5:30 that night, and I know the ride is just over an hour or so. Just trying to figure out timing...

Thanks!

Saturday the drive shouldn't be too bad. If it was me, and I was leaving from Downtown Denver, I would leave at 3:45-4:00 just to make sure that I got there. I-25 is only four-lane for a pretty good stretch between Castle Rock and Colorado Springs, so any accident in that stretch will make for a significant delay. Also, the weather can be hard to judge sometimes, as it can be very nice in Denver and snowing in Monument/Castle Rock. Obviously, weather will slow traffic down as well.

Monty, I believe the party starts at 4:30 pm Saturday, the game time @ CC is 7:00 pm.

Monty, I just forwarded you the email I got when I messaged the local visitors center. Basics is that I-25 can back up, there is a local road but it's recommended to get there earlier. If we leave like 1:30-2:00 we should be fine, I would think.

Again, Saturday you should be fine leaving at 2:45 if you wanted. That being said, there is plenty to do in Colorado Springs, so it is not like you'd just have to sit on your hands if you got there early.
