UML Recruiting Thread, 2014 and beyond

Re: UML Recruiting Thread, 2014 and beyond

I watched Dmowski Sunday vs Albany Academy....had a Hat-Trick. Kid is a stud, good get.

Two more goals today for Ryan Dmowski in a 3-2 OT loss to Salisbury. Ryan has 16 points (13-3-16) in 19 games.

Ryan Collins had 3 points (2-1-3) tonight including the game winning goal in OT. Collins is currently fourth in the CCHL in scoring with 58 points (22-36-58) in 45 games played.

One of the reasons I find recruiting to be interesting is to see the success/failure rate for each class. With the departure of Buco, I thought I'd see how that plays out for a couple of our recent classes.

Looking back at Chris' site, going to the guys who would be seniors now.
Still on roster:
Daniel Furlong
Derek Arnold
Doug Carr
Josh Holmstrom
Joseph Pendanza
Shayne Thompson

No longer with the team:
Rob Badger
Nick Curry
Chad Ruhwedel
Mark Boulanger
Will Rayner
TJ Massie
Julian Melchiori

6 of 13 successes, but I think I'll say that Ruhwedel was a success ... ;). So over a 50% clip for that season, not bad.

Here's the 2011 incoming freshmen (mostly Blaise MacDonald's last recruiting class) as of the beginning of that season (only those that would be juniors now):
Still on roster:
Jake Suter
Brian Robbins
Zach Kamrass
Scott Wilson
Terrence Wallin

No longer with the team:
Stephen Buco
Christian Cowles
Tyler Brickler
Micki Mihailovich
Bill Eiserman

50% success rate (in regards to still being with the program). Only Robbins really doesn't play.

Bazin's first class (sophomores now):
Still on roster:
AJ White
Christian Folin
Connor Hellebuyck
Mike Colatone
Mike Fallon
Adam Chapie
Greg Amlong
Ryan McGrath

No longer with the team:
Logan Johnston

I know it's not even been two years yet for that class, but 8 out of 9 isn't bad. More importantly 6 of the 8 remaining players are key components, with only Colantone and Fallon not included (so far in their careers).

No one else may find this interesting, but I do. :)

Re: UML Recruiting Thread, 2014 and beyond

Since I did the roster for 14/15 just a couple of days ago, already three changes to that. Busy week.

Re: UML Recruiting Thread, 2014 and beyond

Bored this morning ... so...

In the CCHL, Ryan Collins had a 2-1-3 for Ottawa in their 6-4 win at Kemptville last night.

In the USHL, CJ Smith had no points in Chicago's 4-3 win over Sioux City. Tyler Mueller had an assist for the losing team.

Tommy Panico had no points for Muskegon in a 5-1 loss.

In the AJHL, John Edwardh had a 1-1-2 in Okotoks 5-2 loss (named the Away Star). Dylan Hollman missed his shootout attempt in a 2-1 SO loss.

In the NAHL, Mike Louria had two assists in Janesville's 4-1 win, earning the Second Star. Colin O'Neill had no points in a 3-2 loss for Aberdeen. Guillaume LeClerc had an assist for Austin in a 4-2 loss.

Re: UML Recruiting Thread, 2014 and beyond

Stats from USHR.

Tyler Sifferlen - 24 points (13-11-24) in 12 games played. Malden Catholic plays St John's Prep today.

Ryan Dmowski - 17 points (14-3-17) in 20 games played. Gunnery's next game is Wednesday.

Re: UML Recruiting Thread, 2014 and beyond

Possible bad news for Tyler Sifferlen, who had two assists in MC's 5-3 win over St. John's. He took a hard (but apparently clean) hit during the game this afternoon. Quote from his coach:
Richard Murray ‏@Richie_Murray 1m
John McLean on Sifferlen injury: "We’ll have to take him to the doctor to see if he has a concussion and go from there. No update." (1/2)
Richard Murray ‏@Richie_Murray 1m
McLean: "He’s conscious and sitting up. [Tyler's] a little upset. (2/2)
Obviously, Lowell commit or not, hope the best for the young man.

Yup....don't wish anyone a concussion or other serious injury. Pulling for a full recovery.

Re: UML Recruiting Thread, 2014 and beyond

I honestly believe sophomore Matt Filipe will be the best of the bunch. He's physical and has the tools to be special. He's uncommitted, dad played at Northeastern.
And he just committed there as well. NU's building up some good talent for the future.

Congrats (again) @Ryan_Collins22, an honourable mention for #CCHL Player of the Month for January. 3 multi-point games and 3 GWG! #OJS

Re: UML Recruiting Thread, 2014 and beyond

From USHR last June at the Liberty Bell Games
Ryan Lohin, F, ’96 (Philadelphia Flyers U16) 6-0/175 — For our money Lohin was the top player here. We are not stating he will end up being the best player of the bunch years down the line, but he is the most deserving of D-I recruiters’ attention right now. The Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania native has an awkward stride, but he actually gets up and down the ice pretty well, and has an explosive first step. His hockey sense is high-end and he makes excellent decisions with the puck. Very underrated. Was at the Atlantic District festival tryouts and did not make it through to the festival — a mistake in our opinion. Will play for Team Comcast U18 team this year.

Re: UML Recruiting Thread, 2014 and beyond

Lowell now has 15 commitments for next year and on. 12 of them are forwards, 2 defensemen and 1 goalie. They also have a transfer forward who can play next year.

Lowell has 4 defensemen graduating in the next two years (Houk, Furlong, Kamrass and Suter).

Um....
