UML Recruiting Thread, 2014 and beyond

Re: UML Recruiting Thread, 2014 and beyond

Lowell now has 15 commitments for next year and on. 12 of them are forwards, 2 defensemen and 1 goalie. They also have a transfer forward who can play next year.

Lowell has 4 defensemen graduating in the next two years (Houk, Furlong, Kamrass and Suter).

Um....

He has recruited a lot of our defensemen thus far very late in the recruiting season (ie. Folin, Amlong, Suter, Kapla [he was accelerated though] if I recall correctly). Just a thought.

edit: from a brief google search the current defensemen announcement dates recruited by norm

Amlong was late October 2011 for the 2012
Folin was early Feb 2012 for 2012
Kapla Nov 2012 recruited for 2014, accelerated to 2013 after Chad left
Zink April 2013

After Norm was announced 5/02/2011
Kamrass was May 2011
Couldn't find anything on Suter

It looks like it will be the same thing for next season as Tyler Mueller is currently the only defenseman scheduled to come in. Any information on defenseman Dalton Carter who was said to have joined the team this semester?

Tyler Sifferlen had a goal in a losing effort for Malden Catholic against Springfield Cathedral… SC has four kids already committed, but Hockey East fans with an interest in recruiting need to keep an eye on 8th grader Devon Tongue and freshmen Riley Prattson and Dan Petrick. All very talented and sure fire D1 players down the road.

It's good to see that recruit Evan Anderson was named 1st Star in his game last night. He had a hat trick in Langley's 8-5 win. Evan missed most of the season with an injury and now has 10 points (5-5-10) in 11 games played this season.

That's great to see. I'm wondering if his injuries the last two seasons might push him out another year though?

Tyler Sifferlen's Malden Catholic was just voted into the Super 8 Tournament.

Lowell should make it a point in the future to schedule recruiting visits on the weekends of UNH/BC/BU games. Best crowds, best atmospheres.

Have to say, if you're a kid doing an official visit and you see an atmosphere like that, there's no question that you'd be intrigued.

Justin and I saw a potential recruit (we think) chatting with the coaches and coming out of the locker room well before the game last night. Justin was half-joking that he was going to walk over and ask the kid what his name was.

Wouldn't surprise me to know someone was there. Hopefully a talented defenseman for next season!

And BTW, asking a recruit his name ... isn't illegal. ;) I've done it. That's how I found out about a commitment a few years ago before anyone else.

#7 Gunnery defeated #2 Kent tonight 7-3 in the Prep Elite 8 (Stuart/Corkery) playoff tournament. Recruit Ryan Dmowski had 3 points (1-2-3) in the win.

Not sure how Dmowski did today, but Gunnery beat #5 Berkshire to make it to the Final against #1 Salisbury tomorrow night.

Re: UML Recruiting Thread, 2014 and beyond

sifferlen was best player in tournament today. you will love his game. a year or two in ushl/bchl and you will have a good one
He played in the USHL pre-season this year, but came back to MC. I'm wondering if Cedar Rapids still has his rights?

Thanks, I thought he had played there as I knew he'd been drafted.

BTW, Dmowski's Gunnery squad lost 3-2 in OT last night to Salisbury in the finals.

Monty, No points for Dmowski in last night's game. Gunnery finished 20-7-1 and Dmowski had 26 points (18-8-26) in the 28 games.
