UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

Mark Divver @MarkDivver
Lee Parks, who will be freshman at Lowell this season, going to Philadelphia Flyers development camp. Led USHL champ Fargo Force with 30 goals in '23-24

Bad news. '07 D Cullen McCrate decommits, he's now heading to Michigan State.

Nathaniel Bott @Nathaniel_Bott
Michigan State hockey lands a commitment from Cullen McCrate – a 07-born right-handed defenseman who will play in Dubuque in the USHL next season. Played AAA with Little Caesars. Decommitted from UMass-Lowell a few weeks ago.

College Puck NXT @CollegePuckNXT
Michigan State just picked up a commitment from Cullen McCrate!!! The Michigan native defenseman is staying home after a STRONG showing at USA Nationals where he made the camp roster for the Hlinka Gretzky Cup!

Sucks to see. First Rowan Guest and now McCrate. Two young and talented defensemen lost.
I'm guessing Michigan State (just like all the Big Ten programs) has a bit more NLI money to offer. This was always coming sadly, and will cause a major shift back to the power houses of college hockey in time.

BREAKING - recruit Stephen Grumley has committed to UMass Lowell. The 2007-born defenseman out of California was a standout performer for us at the 16U Nationals and recently committed to the BCHLs Sherwood Park Crusaders for next season. Nice get for UMass Lowell here.

Stevie Grumley - Stats, Contract, Salary & More (eliteprospects.com)
5'8", 151 pounds and a 3.75* as per NZ. He was also on the LA Jr. Kings, along with fellow 07 and Goalie commit Kyle Jones.

And while this might not help immediately, good to see Assistant Head Coach Andy Boschetto was part of the coaching staff (along with a Merrimack Assistant Coach) for the Mass District team at the USA Hockey Select 17 Camp. Can't hurt to have future college athletes gets to know (and hopefully) appreciate the coaching staff.

Bored at work today, so put this roster view together now that we know what the upcoming roster is like, I wanted to see where we are going out another two years. Obviously things will change based on future commits as well as the transfer portal.

But looking at the 25/26 roster, we'll definitely need to add at least one defenseman and a goalie.

The NCAA verbal commitment window opens up this Thursday, August 1st for all players heading into their junior year.

Outside of the big names you'd expect being active these first two days (BC, BU, Michigan et al), couple of smaller programs jumped in with Merrimack and even AIC picking up commits.
