Nice to see. Smallish guy, 5'9", 174 pounds. A 12/1/93 DOB.

Currently tied for 16th in the league.

Our newest recruit will be having surgery tomorrow and will be out for a few weeks, as he took a shot to the face on the 28th.

Tyler Sifferlen scored the tying goal at 6:25 in the third as #1 Malden Catholic tied #2 BC High 2-2 tonight.

Player that's been mentioned before as someone Lowell is recruiting (Zach Sanford) is the highest rated uncommitted player by the CSS, as per Mike McMahon's blog.

Anyone else surprised that Lowell doesn't have a goalie commit for 2014 yet? Or do you expect one?

Carr's a senior next year, and if Hellebuyck continues his play, you have to wonder how long he sticks around.

The University of Maine men’s hockey team has gone up to Ontario to grab another forward for next year’s recruiting class.

Brady Campbell, a 20-year-old native of Blenheim, Ont., is currently in his third season with the Elmira Sugar Kings of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League where he has 38 goals and 27 assists in 35 games.

He had UMass-Lowell, Cornell, Niagara, and RIT also looking at him.

UMLFan, your question got me thinking too... My guess is they have people identified, but they haven't pursued just yet? IIRC, wasn't Connor a late addition to the roster? Also there may be an agreement to keep Connor here at least until Jr year? I guess I am confused on how this process works with the NHL. Do NHL teams come to schools and say, "hey, be prepared that Connor will leave Jr year" or "we expect Connor to have x% of playing time, and if not we will advise him to sign now"? Do you know how that works? The only early departure I can remember was Hainsey and Walter, but not sure how those went down.
Also, I haven't had a moment to check, but how does the goalie situation for the Jets AHL affiliate look? If they light and need help, maybe he will be gone sooner.

He didn't really commit late, it was December of 2011. And I'm sure they have identified a goalie, but unless they're going into 2014 with Hellebuyck and Robbins (and maybe they are) ... it would make sense to really be pushing for someone for '14. I can't imagine Hellebuyck leaving before 2013/2014 (I can't see him leaving after just one year, unless it's a personal issue), so we'll have Carr and Hellebuyck (and Robbins) for next season. It would just be good to see someone already being committed for '14.

In regards to the Jets, I don't know their organization, but I believe when they think he's ready, they'll basically call him up (aka, offer him a contract).

Also, there were two others that left early from this program. Greg Koehler and Greg Bullock, both left as sophomores.

Here's something to think about and might have been forgotten, or not known by our younger fans, Bullock had 59 points his freshman season. He had a whopping 124 points in his two seasons combined. Wetmore is our only current senior that is even going to hit 100, and Bullock did it in two years. Man, that kid was good.

Since Hellebuyck is born in 1993 and was drafted by an NHL team, he would be unable to play in the AHL until after his Sophmore year due to the age restrictions. He would have to run out of junior eligibility before he can play in the A. I could see Carr leaving after the season if he has decent offers. He will be 24 by season end which is getting up there in terms of the NHL.

On the other hand, it is going to be hard bringing in a quality goaltender especially if Carr doesn't leave. A recruiting pitch of playing behind the best freshman goaltender in Hockey East and the Runner up for conference player of the year award is not a very inviting one. I'm sure the staff will get a better feel for what is needed based off Carr at the end of the season. If I remember correctly Robbins was a late signing as well.

Great point about Carr possibly leaving after this season, hadn't really thought of that.

The problem of being a very good hockey team. With Ruhwedel being undrafted, NHL teams could try to poach him as well. That would be a monster of a loss.

Yes that would be a major problem! And speaking of, how does that work? Can NHL teams poach right now to land Ruhwedel? I am confused how this works with hockey. Like, if an NHL team is intrested and Ruhwedel speaks to them, does he lose his scholarship? With college Basketball and football if you speak to a team and have an agent, your scholarship is removed. Interested to hear the process on this...

Ruhwedel compares to Stollery of Merrimack who is having a good rookie season in Lake Erie of the AHL. I'm not saying Ruhwedel won't leave, but undersized defenseman are still more of the outlier than the norm.

I would tend to agree with you, just thinking he would be the only other undrafted player on the roster who could be gone after the season. I am sure he will get a long look once the season is over.

The age restrictions/junior eligibility only apply to kids playing Canadian juniors, not college kids. Look at Buffalo's 1st round pick, Girgensons, who decommitted from UVM to go pro. He's playing in the AHL as an 18-year old.
