Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

A new recruit according to the Heisenberg site.
Ryan Collins-C - Ottawa (CJHL) 6'1 203, 9-23-93

Collins is currently seventh in the CJHL in scoring. In 49 games he has a 23-35-58 line. He's from Newton, MA.

Interesting ... assuming that makes five frosh next year (he's currently listed as 2013). I still think Campbell comes in next year, along with Shapiro, Scammon and Gambardella. Only three seniors on the roster (and only one actually plays a lot).

The player currently in third for scoring in the league recently committed to NU (a '94 dob).

Merrimack with a great get, with Matt Carle's (Denver) brother making his commitment. He's currently a Sr at Kimball Union.

So as was posted in the other thread, Gambardella had a great time on campus yesterday as well as at the game.

His brother (a '96 forward) was named the MVP of the Atlantic Metropolitan Hockey League's All Star game, and he plays for the New Jersey Rockets ...

I'm not sure if this is accurate, but the College Hockey Inc recruiting page is showing Collins as coming in for 2014-2015. I haven't found anything yet to confirm what year he'll actually arrive at Lowell. http://collegehockeyinc.com/stats/commitments.php

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

Checking over my twitter news feed and I see a tweet from my HS alma mater saying: #LaSalle Hockey - Congratulations go out to senior forward Nick Master on committing to UMass-Lowell. The school has won the PA state title the past couple years and is where Terrence Wallin played before heading to the Gunnery. Master is a '95 and also plays for the U-18 Junior Flyers team in the AYHL. He seems to have put up pretty impressive numbers in those Midget leagues and I'm sure he will be heading out to play juniors for a year or two.

Master is now on Chris' sheet ... as a '15 entry. Master is one of 4 '95s that have committed to Lowell, all coming in either in '14 or '15.

From the USHR twitter account.

Sr. F Nick Master of Philly Jr. Flyers 18U and LaSalle College HS (PA) has committed to UMass-Lowell for '15. Will play two years in USHL.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

From this article about Hellebuyck that was posted in the season thread ... kind of goes with what I've been saying about goaltender recruiting, that "ideally" Bazin would like to have one committed for 2014.
"Ideally, you want to have a junior and a freshman goalie," Bazin said.
Unless he really trusts Robbins?

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

UMass had a commitment a couple of days ago from a kid Lowell was also interested in.

Brandon also drew interest from Bemidji State, University of Nebraska-Omaha and UMass-Lowell, where former Bruin Christian Folin has 11 points in 22 games as a freshman defenseman.

Folin tried to recruit Brandon, but the chance of playing with his younger brother was too much to pass up for the Bruins’ top scorer.

“Folin tried getting me to go to Lowell and I was definitely interested in playing with him again,” Brandon said. “But UMass offered to me and my brother and it’s kind of a unique situation that we couldn’t dream of. I couldn’t pass it up.”
