Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

I can't begrudge a family pick... We just need one that works (of course, the world never runs out of Suters.)
Well the older brother is the one that this article is about, the younger one is the better one, but I don't know if Lowell was offering him.

I'm just saying getting a great pipeline would be nice... i forgot about the holmstrom family... Hello :) *wave*

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

Joseph Gambardella has been activated from the IR. He was scoreless in his first game back tonight.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

The MA Super 8 field was announced this morning. Recruit Tyler Sifferlen and Malden Catholic got the final seed (10th) and will need to win Monday night in a play in game to make it to the next round. The Super 8 tournament best-of-three series will commence on Sunday, March 3 at the Tsongas Arena.

Malden Catholic advanced to the next round of the Super 8 tournament by defeating Archbishop Williams 9-1 last night. UML recruit Tyler Sifferlen left the game early after taking a brutal hit from behind. It sounds like Tyler is ok and will be ready for the next game.

Sifferlen, a UMass-Lowell commit, stayed on his back for several minutes without moving but eventually skated off.

Lowell adds yet another (as of now) for 2013.

5'10, 162 center Chris Mannicia from Smiths Falls (CJHL) has committed to Lowell. He leads Smiths Falls with a 33-43-76 in 52 GP. He's from St. Catherine's, ON.

Monty, According to this article, Mannicia will be coming in next season.

FROM BEAR TO RIVER HAWK
Smiths Falls Bears forward Chris Maniccia, currently tied for fourth in CCHL scoring with 75 points, has signed a letter to attend the University of Lowell-Mass next season and play for the 2013-14 season. The school will be competing in Division I members as of July 1 but will not be eligible for post-season play while it completes the four-year NCAA reclassification.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

While Lowell and Merrimack were two of the early programs onto Zach Sanford, the #83 player on the NHL CSB has chosed BC today, entering in 2014.

Not very often we're going up against BC ... and this is why.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

Couple of changes for next year ... so updating the expccted roster for 13/14 today.

I've been told that Shea is no longer coming to Lowell.

I'm still assuming Campbell comes in next season.

Defense (9):
Senior: Daniel Furlong, Joe Houk (RS), Chad Ruhwedel
Juniors: Zach Kamrass, Jake Suter
Sophomores: Greg Amlong, Christian Folin, Dmitri Sinitsyn (RS)
Freshmen: Corey Scammon

Forwards (18):
Seniors: Derek Arnold, Josh Holmstrom, Derek McCoy, Joe Pendanza, Shayne Thompson
Juniors: Stephen Buco, Terrence Wallin, Scott Wilson
Sophomores: Adam Chapie, Mike Colantone, Michael Fallon, Nick Gordon (RS), Ryan McGrath, A.J. White
Freshmen: Evan Campbell, Joseph Gambardella, Chris Mannicia, Dylan Shapiro

Goalies (3):
Seniors: Doug Carr
Juniors: Brian Robbins
Sophomores: Connor Hellebuyck

This still leaves us at 30 on the roster, with the class breakdown for 2013/2014 being:
Seniors: 9
Juniors: 6
Sophomores: 10
Freshmen: 5

At this point, I don't think it's a surprise to think that a couple of current roster players won't be back ... McCoy maybe?

And with 4/5 players (Collins, Kapla, Mueller, Shea, and maybe Anderson and/or Sifferlen) committed for 2014 ... Bazin's still got a lot of spots to fill coming up.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

They meant goals for the first stat I believe but...
Jr Flyers ‏@JrFlyers
Nick Master led the AYHL in points with 25. Master and Eric Carreras finished tied for 3rd in the league with 50 points each.
He is probably going to play in the USHL next year.

Also Tyler Sifferlen had a goal and an assist as MC won game 1 of their series today. Highlights here. He already looks good playing on the Lowell ice. :D

And Evan Campbell had himself a good day for Langley...
Rivermen Broadcast ‏@rivermen_bcast
It's a wrap! Rivermen win it 8-4! Puskarich, Robinson, and Campbell all had 2 goals, and 4 assists...Unreal game...Those 3 swept the stars

2014 commit Ryan Collins and his Ottawa Jr. Senators are in the CJHL playoffs. They played their last two regular season games this weekend, on Saturday and Sunday night, winning 9-2 Saturday. Collins had a 2-2-4 and was third star on Saturday, didn't play Sunday.

Collins finished the regular season 5th in points, with a 31-48-79 in 61 games. Fellow commit (but for 2013) Chris Maniccia (Smiths Falls) finished 6th with a 33-44-78 in 54 games.

The BCHL regular season ended this weekend, Evan Anderson ('13 or '14 commit) and Evan Campbell ('14 or '15) and Langley will be in the playoffs, but defensemen Tyler Mueller ('14) and Cowichan Valley are done for the year. Campbell finished the regular season with a 20-46-66 in 51 games, second on his team, while Anderson finished with an 11-20-36 in 55 games. Mueller had a 5-15-20 in 54 games.

In the AJHL, Corey Scammon's ('13) Brooks Bandits had 6 assists in 27 games after moving from the BCHL. The Bandits are in the playoffs.

In the USHL, Michael Kapla ('14) had an assist for Sioux City in a 3-2 loss to Joseph Gambardella ('13) and his Des Moines Bucs. Sioux City and Des Moines are both at the bottom of the USHL Western Conference standings.

In the Super 8 ... Malden Catholic pulled off the upset over #2 Springfield Catholic with a 2 game sweep. Game 1 was at the Tsongas last week of course, a 3-2 win. They then won game 2 on Friday 4-0, Sifferlen had a goal and an assist in Game 1, no points in Game 2. They will be in the semifinals on the 13th at the Tsongas, against #6 Catholic Memorial. CM just beat #3 BC High 3-2 in Game 3 of their series.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

Monty,

Wasn't Shea supposed to be one of our better incoming recruits? Any idea on what happened?

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

Sifferlen and Malden Catholic are heading to the Super 8 Finals, after a 5-3 win last night. Sifferlen scored the first goal of the game, and then assisted on the game winner as well.
