Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

This maybe old news. Brooks is currently 28-1-0.

01-Dec-12 The Cowichan Valley Captials Hockey Club transfers the playing rights of Corey Scammon (93)(D) to the Brooks Bandits Hockey Club of the AJHL in exchange for future considerations.

Another trade, completed Saturday, saw defenceman Corey Scammon sent to the Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League for future considerations. Scammon, who picked up a Div. 1 scholarship with the University of Massachusetts-Lowell before joining the Caps, had two assists in 17 games this season. Johnston explained that he was a casualty of the numbers game.

"We had eight D; we needed to move one," he said. "Corey will have a good opportunity to play in Brooks, where they're one of the top teams in the country, and we will get a future player next year."

As someone had said earlier, CHN also has Campbell now coming in next September. They still show Shea in 2013 as well, though.

Some of Campbell's assists went to the BCHL's leading point-getter, Mario Puskarich. He's heading to UVM next season.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

So with a couple of departures for next year already, here's where the UML roster stands for next season.

I'm going with the earlier supposition that Shea is going to come in a year later, while Campbell comes in next season.

Defense (9):
Senior: Daniel Furlong, Joe Houk (RS), Chad Ruhwedel
Juniors: Zach Kamrass, Jake Suter
Sophomores: Greg Amlong, Christian Folin, Dmitri Sinitsyn (RS)
Freshmen: Corey Scammon

Forwards (16):
Seniors: Derek Arnold, Josh Holmstrom, Derek McCoy, Joe Pendanza, Shayne Thompson
Juniors: Stephen Buco, Terrence Wallin, Scott Wilson
Sophomores: Adam Chapie, Mike Colantone, Michael Fallon, Nick Gordon (RS), Ryan McGrath, A.J. White
Freshmen: Evan Campbell, Dylan Shapiro

Goalies (3):
Seniors: Doug Carr
Juniors: Brian Robbins
Sophomores: Connor Hellebuyck

This still leaves us at 28 on the roster, with the class breakdown for 2013/2014 being:
Seniors: 9
Juniors: 6
Sophomores: 10
Freshmen: 3

This is a lot smaller roster than we walked into 2012/2013 with. And with 4/5 players (Kapla, Mueller, Shea, and maybe Anderson and/or Sifferlen) committed for 2014 ... Bazin's got a lot of spots to fill coming up.

Monty, You need to add another forward, transfer Nick Gordon (Sophmore ?).

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

Nice job Monty. That's a pretty small incoming class for 2013/14. I wonder if they're done. There's not much room with the roster all ready at 28.

You'd have to almost think one or two of the guys not getting time will head out as well. But if he wants to even up the classes quickly, he's got to get this next class to 5/6, I would think.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

Joseph Gambardella has verbally committed to Lowell. 25 points in 28 games for Des Moines of USHL. Staten Island kid who grew up playing for NJ Rockets program. He's a 93 who should be a scorer for the Hawks. He replaces Stenglein for all intents and purposes.

11 letters... that's probably the longest last name in quite awhile.

edit: yes, I now recall Dyrowicz(sp?)-Burek (I think?! The MA-Dartmouth xfer)
