UML Recruiting, Building for the future

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

Recruit Chris Eiserman is back in the EJHL with the Valley Jr. Warriors. Chris had a shutout in first game back and is currently 1-1-0 with the Jr Warriors.

Making his VJW Junior A debut in net against Apple Core is a familiar face to Warrior fans. Chris Eiserman (West Newbury, MA), who grew up playing in the VJW organization, returned home one week ago to suit up for the gold and blue.

In his first game back, Eiserman collected 22 saves in the shutout victory. The 17 year old who led Newburyport High School to a Division 2 State Championship in 2009 spent the first part of the season with the USHL’s Tri-City Storm, a program based in Kearney, Nebraska.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

With UMass picking up a commit today from a winger who plays for Shattuck (and was on the US U-17 team last year) ... Lowell now has the long streak without a commit in HE, as it's been almost 8.5 months since Mike Conderman committed. To put that in perspective, 43 kids have committed to other HE schools since our last commit, including 29 for 2012 and beyond.

From USHR:
BC Admissions Says No to Saponari
Boston College admissions has denied the transfer application of former BU forward Vinny Saponari.

Saponari, booted from the Boston University hockey team after his sophomore season, would have entered BC as a junior in the fall of ’11.

Atlanta’s fourth choice in the 2008 draft, Saponari currently leads the USHL in scoring (8-22-30 in 21 games) while helping lead the expansion Dubuque Fighting Saints to the top of the Western Conference standings.

“He’s very disappointed,” said Dubuque coach Jim Montgomery. “He had a long face in my office.”

“It’s too bad, because he’s been playing great. I think he’s the most dominant player in the league now,” says Montgomery. “He’s ready to play in the AHL and develop into a professional player.”

Montgomery reports that the coaching staff at BC “was not happy” with the thumbs-down.

As for the future, Montgomery says his assistant captain “is keeping his options open” and will start talking to schools again in February.

“But,” Montgomery added, "he’s a little down on schools right now.”

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

If he can't get into Basketweaving College where else is going to take him?

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

....and if he's ready for the AHL right now why go back to college for a year or two?

I'd have to think les is right... IIRC, he can play in the AHL now if Atlanta wants him... I have to think not being admitted to BC is a reality check... or who knows, maybe he's phoning up MSU, Michigan, Minnesota, or the Colorado schools.

One would have to hope that he's really understanding that you can't take things for granted... I forgot what lead to his dismissal... but now is a good time to understand this lesson.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

From USHR: A defenseman for the second half.

-- Junior Bruins defenseman Al Butler has committed to UMass-Lowell, effective immediately. He will enter school at the end of the Christmas break and play the second half of the season. Butler, who is 6’3”, 216 lbs., is a 4/15/91 birthdate from Marlboro, Mass. in his second year with the Junior Bruins. In 26 games, he has a 2-4-6 line with 41pims.

I wonder if he's related to former UNH Wildcat Bobby Butler?

Well that takes Rayner's newly open spot. Butler is indeed Bobby's brother.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

Really would like to see a pickup for the next season soon...

Update on Rayner. He's currently playing for Philadelphia in the EJHL and has now committed to Sacred Heart for next season according to the Heisenberg site.

I would too. Lots of activity by other HE teams. Heisenberg is showing 3 new recruits for UNH today. UMA picked up another recruit yesterday. They also lost a recruit as John Parker decommited.

That's a tough loss for them, as Parker was the highlight of their class in my opinion.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

An article on Malden Catholic and their top line of Brendan Collier, Ryan Fitzgerald and Mike Vecchione. Fitzgerald (BC) and Vecchione (UNH) have already committed to play in Hockey East. Collier is still uncommited, but is generating plenty of interest with BU, Harvard, Merrimack, PC and UNH in the picture. No mention of Lowell in the article.

I saw that, and sadly wasn't surprised.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

Having had some luck with the Jr. Bruins on the recruiting side, I wonder if Coach MacDonald is looking at Zach Luczyk from Charlton, MA. He's a '92 DOB, has 26 goals in just 27 games with 34 points. He has 4 more goals than the person in second in the EJ, and has played less games than most of the guys chasing him for the goal title. Just curious.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

Terrence Wallin currently has 15 points (5-10-15) for Gunnery. According to the USHR stats, he's only played in 7 of Gunnery's 12 games to date.
