UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

It will be interesting to see where Ferriero ends up. It's pretty late for teams to be adding a player and coming up with scholarship money.

the one thing i've always liked about Lowell... rolling admission :)

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

-- 5'9", 165 lb. Ryan Badger, a 3/3/94 center from Hainesport, NJ and Team Comcast 16-U, played well in all three zones and can also put up numbers. The son of former UMass-Lowell forward Rob Badger, he works hard and is a smart heady player who plays bigger than his size. A player to follow. Could develop into a Div. I player. Will be playing for Team Comcast 18-U this season
Ryan will be playing for Endeavor Selects in the Beantown Summer Tour which starts tomorrow night and runs through Sunday. Games will be played at the Rinks at Exeter NH, as well as UNH's Whittemore Center. According to USHR, Ryan is getting a lot of college interest. Hopefully the Hawks are involved.

I've been keeping an eye on the kid for a bit, once we first heard about his brother committed. He would be a very good get for Lowell.

BTW, sounds like he'll be playing along with recent NU commit Gaudreau on the Comcast team. NU has picked up 11 commits from now through 2013 including some big names, impressive.

Speaking of NU, USHR is reporting that Cody Ferriero will be skating with the Huskies this fall. Agree, NU is doing very well on the recruiting front, and now they land Ferriero too.

From USHR:
"Cody is ecstatic," his father said. "He moved fast and concisely. Northeastern is a perfect fit for Cody, and the coach is a perfect fit for Cody."

Asked if any other schools were in the picture, the elder Ferriero said, "There were five Hockey East schools and one Ivy that we had some level of contact with." Ferriero said that, given the circumstances, he was uncomfortable naming them.

Reposting this from a few months ago, since recruiting's been mostly dead after Conderman's commit.

Meant to do this earlier when I did the last batch, but here's the what the roster looks like for 2011/2012. I honestly can't see all 14 of this upcoming season's freshmen coming back, but we'll see. It would appear from the Riverhawks release that 3 of the kids that are listed below as sophomores (Badger, Brickler and McCoy) are walk-ons. This roster includes all of them.

Here's what our roster would currently look like, and if someone spots a mistake, let me know:

Defense (10):
Senior: Tim Corcoran
Juniors: Chris Ickert, Colin Wright
Sophomores: Rob Badger, Daniel Furlong, Julian Melchiori, Will Rayner, Chad Ruhwedel
Freshmen: William Eiserman, Colton Saucerman

Forwards (16):
Seniors: Michael Budd, Matt Ferreira, Michael Scheu, David Vallorani,
Juniors: Joe Caveney, Robert Visca, Riley Wetmore
Sophomores: Derek Arnold, Tyler Brickler, Nick Curry, Josh Holmstrom, Derek McCoy, Joe Pendanza, Shayne Thompson
Freshmen: Mike Conderman, Terrence Wallin

Goalies (3):
Junior: T.J. Massie
Sophomores: Marc Boulanger, Doug Carr

So at this point, that leaves us at 29 on the roster.

Thoughts?

Looking at the up coming season, I count 9 defensemen, including Colin Wright. Is Badger coming in this season? Will Wright play defense? Although it's very late, I wonder if Blaise will try to bring in another defenseman now that Melchiori is no longer coming.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

I've heard some rumors that Scott Wilson will be coming in for 2012, not 2011, and that Tyler Brickler is coming in 2011, not 2010..

Since Tyler Brickler wasn't mentioned in UML's 2010 recruit announcement, I assume the rumors are correct and he will be coming in next season (2011).

Or I just had too many beers in England last night. :D

The Beantown Summer Classic begins today and runs through Wednesday. Recruit Terrence Wallin will be playing for the Saints in the Classic Pro division.
A couple of familiar names, Joey Yeadon is playing for the Chiefs in the Classic Pro division and Ryan Badger will be playing for the Braves in the Classic Future's division.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Well that sucks about Melcrapi going north and not joining UML. I'm not sure how he chose UML to begin with but it sucks that they got stiffed at the alter.

Bright side #1. More hot chicks for the UML players who stay.

Bright side #2. Now I've got a potential future NHLer Dman to hope gets whipped like a red headed step child every time the B's play him.

Bright side #3. Jon will be happy. This sets up a better battle between UML and PC for the bottom of HE.

Not good for SOS for HE though....
