UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Might as well, it's pretty slow out here

Of course none of the the guys who were trash talking from the keyboard at this time last year are taking the bait because they know UML is probably two to three seasons away from their next season of unfulfilled high expectations

You never know when UML might take an average team, make an NCAA tourney and walk into a Frozen Four with a sweet setup like Yale and Air Force.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Since Tyler Brickler wasn't mentioned in UML's 2010 recruit announcement, I assume the rumors are correct and he will be coming in next season (2011).

The Westside Warriors (BCHL) training camp begins on Monday, August 23rd and runs until Wednesday, August 25th. Tyler Brickler is mentioned as one of the returning veterans from last year's squad. http://www.westsidewarriors.ca/leagues/newsletter.cfm?clientID=1414&leagueID=3597&page=46155

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

So with the two departures, here's how we stand for 2011...

Defense (9):
Senior: Tim Corcoran
Juniors: Chris Ickert, Colin Wright
Sophomores: Rob Badger, Daniel Furlong, Will Rayner, Chad Ruhwedel
Freshmen: William Eiserman, Colton Saucerman

Forwards (15):
Seniors: Michael Budd, Matt Ferreira, Michael Scheu, David Vallorani,
Juniors: Joe Caveney, Riley Wetmore
Sophomores: Derek Arnold, Tyler Brickler, Nick Curry, Josh Holmstrom, Derek McCoy, Joe Pendanza, Shayne Thompson
Freshmen: Mike Conderman, Terrence Wallin

Goalies (3):
Junior: T.J. Massie
Sophomores: Marc Boulanger, Doug Carr

So at this point, that leaves us at 27 on the roster. Have to figure the coaching staff is back out on the recruiting trail at this point (if they weren't already), needing a couple of players.

The class breakdown in 2011:
Seniors: 5
Juniors: 5
Sophomores: 13
Freshmen: 4

And as of right now, we have 2 commits for 2012 (I believe Wilson will come in then), so we have 24 on the roster for the 2012/2013 season, assuming all of the above come back which I think is doubtful.

For what it's worth, if you bring in 2 more for 2011, that will give you 6 freshmen that year, and add 4 more for 2012, you'll be happily on the way to evening out the classes.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

I have some bad news for UML fans.. Chis Eiserman blew out his ACL at the festival in Rochester and is done for a year. He was hurt with about 5 minutes to go in last game, they left him in and he further injured it a few minutes later, had to be helped off ice. No way he should have been allowed to stay in the meaningless game and it might be hard to come back from. He was in limbo as is. Left Monarchs because he was not going to play ahead of Billet. Went to USHL and didnt fair much better. Was loaned to Lincoln who in the end didnt have room and was rumored to be going to play for Valley Jr Warriors. With this injury and recent play, Blaise might look to add another.
I guess the news isn't as bad as we thought as Chris Eiserman is one of 5 goalies in the Tri City (USHL) camp. Bill Eiserman is also with Tri City.
Tri-City entered Thursday with five goalies. Steven Bolton is the lone returner from last year and is joined by rookies Alex Cantrall and Scott Diebold, first-year player Chris Eiserman and Matt Green, who played in 31 games for Lincoln last season.

How about Alaska and Yale in your own backyard? If you still use that line after last year all you are doing is taking shots at your own title.

Wipe that drool off your chin for 2 seconds think about it.

What BC last year accomplished in the postseason... A national title while demolishing two top 5 teams in the tournament (including the #1) along the way and a HE tourney title (admittedly a weak league). Or do you think BC just grabbed the title after beating Yale and forgot about those blowouts in Detroit? Wishful thinking from 2009 that the title is awarded with 2 wins perhaps?

What UVM in 2009 accomplished in the postseason... ZERO.

Do you see the point everyone was making? Let me just make this quicker and easier for you. The point was UVM didn't beat anyone good or accomplish much by beating juggernauts like Yale and Air Force. First good team they faced... gone. I'm pretty sure BC accomplished something in the NCAAs last year (although if you asked us before beating Miami, most of us would have told you BC hadn't done that much yet either by virtue of avoiding North Dakota).

Let me know if you've figured it out yet, ok? In the meantime, you can put your hand back in your pants and think about beating Yale and Air Force in 2009, the program's big claim to fame (aside from the Elephant Walking, of course).

Stats for UML recruits through last night (regular season), but not every league has started playing yet.

I'm still listing Wilson as a 2011 though I've heard he might be 2012.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

According to the Troy Record, the River Hawks were in the running for recruit Ryan Haggerty (USNDPT) who recently committed to RPI. Nice to hear that Lowell was being considered.
Haggerty had five goals, seven assists in 41 games for the USA’s Under-17 Team last season and has one assist in four games for the Under-18 Team this season.
He listed defending NCAA champion Boston College, New Hampshire, Vermont and UMass-Lowell as his other choices.

Now that would be a massive win for a school like Lowell. Oh well.

Actually I'm trying to remember when the last time we even heard of a player choosing between us and BC.

I forget the exact name... Joe Pearce? Goaltender. Either way, good thing we missed on that one.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Some comments on goalie recruit Chris Eiserman who is with Tri City (USHL). Hopefully he'll get some ice time this season.

Tri-City carries three goaltenders on the roster into the season. Steven Bolton returns after going 8-6-0 with a 3.10 goals against average last year. He is joined by Scott Diebold, an 18-year old who played for St. Francis Prep, and Chris Eiserman, a 17-year old who played for the New Hampshire Monarchs of the Eastern Junior Hockey League.

Schoneck said the competition between the trio of goalies is close.

“It is kind of tight,” he said. “Steven obviously is the incumbent goalie here and he’s our 20-year old with experience, so he’s going to see the lion’s share of games. But Scotty coming in is very agile, very quick, and Chris is just the young guy who’s really raw. He missed part of the summer with some injuries and is now getting himself back. But from the guys I’ve talked with from the National Hockey League and some of our scouts, he’s got a lot of raw potential.

“So moving forward, obviously Steven graduates next year. It’ll be nice to have Chris and Scott move into those roles next year for us so we don’t have to scramble for a goalie.”
