UML offseason looking towards 2010/11 season

Re: UML offseason looking towards 2010/11 season

Other than the Big Four, there is no reason why this year's team can't be in the middle of the pack. Certainly, the upperclassmen as a whole have to step it up several notches from some of the play during the previous season. The big questions are the #5/6 D-paring and goaltending. With the recent departure of a freshman that was scheduled to fill a big void and unknowns in net, it's very hard to justify even a .500 season in a league where the margin of error is that small.

As I mentioned, let's give them the first month. In the end, this team will go as far as their young goaltending and defense will take them.

agreed. we will probably figure out how this team will end up around November 3rd. They will be playing Maine, RIT, BU twice, and BC. thats the top 3 of hockey east right there and a team in the frozen four. just cant say anything right now until we see the team in action.

Re: UML offseason looking towards 2010/11 season

Scott Wilson has 2 assists in the 2 (of his team's 4) preseason games he's played for Georgetown. Can't believe these seasons are starting already.
Wilson added 4 more points (2-2-4) over the past two nights.

Something this team needs desperately, and I'll say this has been Coach's biggest failing ... not enough of the kids are progressing as they're becoming upperclassmen. No, I don't expect everyone of them to, but (and this point has been mentioned here) it really appears at times that kids aren't necessarily getting better year after year. Then again, I'm tired so I could just be nonsensical at this point.

Re: UML offseason looking towards 2010/11 season

The UML site has a roster up, a total of 26 players (8 D, 14 F, 4 G).

- Colin Wright is listed as one of the 8 defensemen.
- Goalie Michael Heffron year is listed as a RS So.
- Rob Badger and Derek McCoy are not on the current roster.
- Joe Caveney is wearing #13 (I'm trying to remember the last player to wear that number)

I wonder if this is the final roster, not much room for injuries.

Appear to only have 10 freshman on that roster... wonder who didn't make it to campus and/or who gets to be part of the practice crew before Blaise has a uniform made up for them.

Looks like goalie T.J. Massie is incorrectly listed as a sophomore; which would make it eleven freshman.

Sophomore maybe correct. He did play a couple of games for Lowell in 2008/2009 before heading to USHL at mid season.

he's a sophomore... particularly he's a RS/SO because his extra year in juniors ate a year of clock time... 5 to play 4. As Bob said, he played during that 08-09 year.

Wow ... small small roster. :( BTW, they've got Cey listed as a Jr this season, he should be a senior.

Hopefully they can stay healthy. It should help with leveling out the classes.

I'm not fully sure on that. As I posted on the recruiting thread, we're currently looking at:
Seniors: 5
Juniors: 6
Sophomores: 10
Freshmen: 5
for the 2011/2012 season. Just to bring the roster numbers up, we're going to have to increase the freshmen class size up to probably around 8 again. So we'll have two classes with 18 or so, and the other 2 will 11.

Just an FYI, I was informed Badger and McCoy are on the roster and will be added as soon as they pick their numbers, so ignore the last post.

The roster on the UML site has been updated and now includes Badger and McCoy. The roster also includes a new player Cameron Gaudet who played for Austin Prep last season. The UML site has him listed as a forward but he played defense at Austin Prep. His brother Ross plays at BU.

CAMERON GAUDET/AUSTIN PREP The senior defenseman was named the Most Valuable Player of the Catholic Central Large http://www.cpedia.com/wiki?q=Super+Eight&guess_ambig=Lancers+Tsongas+Arena+Hingham+

He was always a forward... Good depth addition
