What's up with this snow? It is really coming down right now in the Lowell area?

Well hopefully it lightens up for the game and doesn't deter people from coming.

Anyways, I was disappointed by the tie, but one thing I can note is that we are taking significantly less penalties than earlier in the season. We seemed very strong in the second and third, but we just cant put it in the net. Just need to hope for a better game tonight

One goal scored in three of the last four games. Really all that needs to be said.

It's still coming down hard here at 2:00 pm. Huge flakes that are sticking to everything. We must have 4 -5 inches on the ground right now.

It looks like we will have a couple more hours of this stuff. The game is still on but I hope somebody actually plows the streets here or it will be tough to get to the game.

It just took me >1 h to get home from Salem, NH (normally a but more than 15 min on a normal day). The roads are awful, traffic is worse~who ever heard of a traffic jam on Rte38?!?!?! The side roads haven't been touched. Saw 1 plow the whole time I was out- in NH, heading the wrong way.

THis just in State of Emergency is declared in some parts of the State. Couldn't tell you which ones because the dish is not rec'ing because it is snowed over.

Hopefully it lets up soon and they can get working on the roads. The snow and the fact that the game is on WBIN tonight will really keep the crowd down.

Mrs. GoUML got us tickets for tonight's game so we'll be making the trip down from Southern NH to Lowell tonight. Should be a fun ride.

Although BU has been struggling of late, scoring hasn't been much of an issue. Since the break they have scored 4, 2, 3, and 4 goals (all losses - Harvard, Dartmouth, Maine, BC). They have been giving up a ton of goals (7, 4, 7, 6 in the same stretch) so Lowell's going to have to find the back of the net early and often tonight and hopefully Hellebuyck and co. can keep the goals against down.

Should be fun!

A great piece / video on Coach Bazin by CBC.ca for Hockey Day in Canada.

Dear god, we just recruited all of Canada in one shot

edit: first chance to see that new banner set... IMO, I know norm doesn't like red but National Championship need to differentiate from tournament banners. Even if that's reversing the colors to blue and white

I don't think I have seen a Lowell team control play like that against a Hockey East team. The entire first period it seemed like every time the puck fond its way on a BU stick it was immediately taken off.

Pretty sure Scott Wilson could have a 4-5 min highlight real of beautiful goals scored against BU :D

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

I guess we have a glass again?

BU was sorry to watch. Shadow of the teams we have seen in the past. I don't ever remember them playing that chippy. Lots of stabbing, poking, tripping, etc. Our guys just skated thru it. Nice to see. BU goalie made some highlight reel saves on some sick plays that should have gone in.

The Zebras were astonishingly bad. Didn't affect the outcome but Holy Go* were they bad. Couldn't call off sides right on a bet (for either team). Call nothing, then need to watch a video to call something, then let them practically decapitate each other while looking the other way. I was waiting for blood.

That had to be the worse BU team I have seen in my 30 years of watching Hockey East. Wow,they were just plain awful. It took them 18 minutes before they even managed a shot on goal.

Aside from AIC, BU was the worst team I've seen us play this year. We're still in a scoring slump. We emasculated them and it was still a close game until the end.

Caveat, I didn't see the game.

I'm not going to worry if BU is bad or sliding. All eras end and as Maine has shown, prestige lingers.

---

Has anybody noticed the subtle return of clutch and grab in certain aspects of the game... I've noticed it in play beneath the face off circle in the zone.

Something to keep an eye on.

THis wasn't subtle. this was stab, poke, stab and twist, smack. No trouble noticing it. I wanted to grab them and knock their heads together

Wilson was the best player on the ice tonight, no question. He could have had two more, and he looked visibly upset with missing his chances. However he also made the worst decision I have ever seen a player of that caliber make and it directly lead to the BU goal.

Eight seconds left in the 5 min major, Wilson - with space, time and two teammates flanking him - attempts a lazy, half hearted clear that gets picked off by the BU player standing right in front of him and the puck is in the back of the net two seconds later. It was so egregious I actually expected Bazin to sit him for a shift or two. You could see what he was trying to do, but firing that puck 200 feet would have been so much easier.

That's the second night in a row they've blown Hellebuyck's clean sheet. At least this time they finished out what has to be the worst BU team in the last 20 years.

You have to be impressed with Lowell's puck possession over the past two games. It's easy to get frustrated when they're not scoring, and I'm the biggest offender, but everything else is there - the breakouts have been good, they're moving the puck well, the movement on the PP is good. The goals will come in time, that's what I keep telling myself anyway.

.

wait, it's BU you're talking about here?:confused::confused: It's always been that way with them when they are down late in a game or getting dominated, you guys just never saw it because you rarely ever beat and never dominated them until the past few years

Oh, we've seen it but not at the onset of the game and not as nasty as this. A little here and there but not every face off and not so blatant.
