I didn't watch this very closely, but all things considered, this looked a lot more like the #1 team on paper knowing the losses we have to injury and penalty. Hopefully they'll learn from the effort they needed tonight.

Rhode Island hockey > Massachusetts hockey

Surprised to see 9 goals scored in this game
Um, OK. Move along :p

I guess we'll find out about Wilson and McGrath tonight. The team can't afford any long term injuries. With the departure of Buco and Gordon no longer available plus other injuries the roster depth is pretty thin.

Time to move on from last night. It will be interesting to see how the team responds tonight.
The answer appears to be very well. If all those guys are mooshed then I guess that might be why the third looked as it did last night.

That was the best Lowell has played all year. Did you notice how the bench was really into it in the 3rd?
They were very animated on the bench banging their sticks on the boards cheering on their teammates. Great win!

Agree, what an impressive game by the shorthanded Hawks tonight. A great effort by the whole team. Doug Carr was solid in net and Joe Pendenza really stepped it up with a couple of big goals. Huge win.

Agree 100% - also, Folin's best game of the season.

With two of the top six F and two of the top three D out, I didn't think Lowell had a chance in hell of winning this game.

Instead they go out and dominate with the most complete team effort we've seen this season. Can't figure it out.

Thankfully the next five games are against the swill of Hockey East. I hope that Suter, Kamrass, McGrath and Wilson are all back ASAP. Last word I heard was no timetable for return.

Great freakin game! Turning point. Shorthanded, could have folded but instead showed character and heart. 10 goals in 2 games. Lesson learned on Friday, let up against a good team and you pay the price. What a crowd! Made Schneider seem like a morgue.

sometimes it takes being put into a corner for people to put out their best effort... again, I hope those that went beyond their normal selves remember it. The one thing I saw that I haven't seen much this season is disruption that turns into plays the other way. We had a lot of 1v1 1v0 opportunities. Remember the first year of this new existence, we'd disrupt them turn it into a breakaway, a 2v1, or a 3v2. Personally, I don't think we've seen a lot of that this season.

Now that withstanding, we're still in the top 10 in the nation. I think we're much in agreement... it hasn't been spectacular but its been more than adequate. Tonight I think we saw the effort that turned one missed play into a goldmine. The last bit of effort is always the difference. 16 skaters, backed into a corner, you have to perform, no other options.

Not sure if anyone noticed, but majority of the goals scored on Gillies last night were stick side. Guessing this was part if the game plan

I keep seeing this but I am pretty sure the 4 guys that got hurt didn't get hurt at 20:00 of the 3rd. How much was letdown and how much was the lack of those players (either completely or skating at less than capacity)?

Congratulations to Joe Pendenza on getting his 100th point as a River Hawk tonight. Bob Ellis got a great picture of it when Joe scored his second goal of the night.

This is a freaking amazing shot!

FWIW, Providence's "second" goal missed being a goal by 0.1 seconds. The shadow of the puck was going through the crease when the clock hit 0.0.

Don't know about Suter and Kamrass, but I've heard rumours that McGrath and Wilson might be out for a while.

Very good point.

Great effort by this team last night. Shocking, to be honest. In a good way, as opposed to the shock of Friday night.

Someone said it earlier, and I agree. Best game they've played all year, it was actually a full 60 minute effort. Carr was huge when he needed to be. Pendanza was phenomenal (and congrats to him for hitting the 100 point mark).

Also, over 6k tonight. Seeing that place packed is just beautiful.

Id thought too. A short/injured bench would have explained quite a bit.

Had to be factor but by that reasoning we should have lost on Saturday too. I looked at the tape of Providence's 3 3rd period goals and the Riverhawks were in "standing around watching mode" for the first 2. Mauerman's game winner was a freak sh*t luck goal but the first two we gave them imo.

Not that it means much, but I was curious and decided to compare the team's record today to where it was last year at this time. On January 28th They were 14-7-2 and ranked #13.

Right now they are 16-7-2 having played two more games and remain at #8.

What I found most interesting is last season they went on to LOSE the next two games.

I have no idea where they were in Hockey East a year ago.

My guess is they will probably have to sweep BC and win out almost all of their remaining games in order to win the regular season title. As awesome as that would be, I'd say that's a stretch. I'm just hoping we can get healthy and improve to where we can go on long runs in both the HE and NCAA tournament again.

Does anyone have any new updates on those that were injured Friday night?
