Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

For our resident historians...is this the first time all the beanpot teams have been shut out of the semi-finals?

I am not a resident historian but did a quick check on the HE website - looks like this is the first time a Beanpot school has been kept out of the quarterfinals.

GREAT GAME!!!!!!!! On to the Garden and ND. Anyone know if UML is the late or early game??

Yes it was a great game. Wife wasn't up to going tonight so went by myself and sat behind the goal - great seats! Had a fantastic view of the unusual SH goal that magically went through the net. Proud of the team - played hard and deserved the win. Hats off to UVM who played their hearts out too. A very evenly matched close series. Well done!

UML has their tournament site updated with all sorts of ticket information, student buses, and the Harp is the pregame headquarters again this year. Head HERE.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

Hi Riverhawk nation, This has nothing to do with the game but it is something I been meaning to post for a few weeks now. I need to get this off of my chest and let Riverhawk nation hear how the AD's office treated a 35 year season ticket holder. As I have stated I have been a season ticket holder for 35 years. Dad and I have been coming to the games long before any of the current AD staff including Dana. When the Talon club and Pavilion was built Dad and I would go to the talon club for a drink and dinner. After we would walk to the elevator and held up to our seats. Both dad and I have trouble climbing stairs. We were allowed to cut through the pavilion to get to our seats. When the talon club was closed for private parties we were told we could go to the pavilion. Dad and I went their for a few years, no problems. Sadly dad passed away before this season started. I would come to the games with family and friends and go into the pavilion. The game against Providence my husband came with me. As we were heading into the pavilion they stop my husband from going in. I explained that he was with me and that we were season ticket holders. I complained to management and to the AD staff and nothing but BS about how you have to pay extra to go in and sit down and have a drink and something to eat. All they care about is the money and not the people who supported the team through thick and thin. How many of the people who go in their were there when we only won 5 games the whole season. Is this fair to treat a 35 year season ticket holder. I don't think so. Season ticket holders should have some place to go to have some food and a drink. Thanks for listening Riverhawk Nation. I still love my Riverhawks. GO RIVERHAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is unfortunate in that loyal, long time fans get the brush off unless you've got the bucks. Unfortunately I think you'll see more and more of this as the DI thing grows into even more of a monster. It used to be great years ago during the Crowder years as for example, they'd have an open-to-the-public lunch on Friday often at Fox Hall or Ground Round when that used to be in Chelmsford and you'd get insights on the team from the coach and they'd have the guest speaker be the opposing team coach that night. Had a great time listening to Shawn Walsh and Jack Parker for example. They'd never do that in a million years now unless you're the Platinum Level Riverhawk Big $ Supporter or something.

What's been great about the past few years have been the fan gatherings that UML sets up a the various tournament sites for EVERYONE. I really hope those don't change down the road as it still makes you feel like a family of fans at those events, something that's started to be lost.

One thing to throw out there was a recent incident where the senior parents wanted to have a function in one of the rooms at the Tsongas before the last regular season game. This person was irate that they were going to charge them $250 just to hang out in the room after all that the players have brought to the program and school the last few years in terms of dollars and exposure. Even tried to have some influential hockey people intervene and still, no go. So they went somewhere else downtown pre-game that was glad to have them. This left a sour taste in this person's mouth over a measly $250 that you think UML would just waive as a "thanks" to the players and their kids/players for all they've done.

Just think that despite the great things that have happened over the last few years that there are little things like this that they're losing touch with and not realizing that a little common sense and accommodation goes a long way to keeping people happy.

Congrats to Lowell! Great game, and even better result. Not sure if anyone knows, but no Chapie tonight. I know he was pretty hurt last night. Anyone know?

Don't know. He took a real hard hit with that VT player crashing the net last night but played the rest of the game. Hopefully was out just as a precaution today. Gambradella was also out tonight too but Colatone more than held his own, had a great game.

Yup I do remember that hit, he and a UVM player were down and out. I hope you are right and it's just for precaution

Congrats on advancing to the Garden. ND is gonna be tough. Need to force them to make mistakes which is tough to do.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

Great Job Lowell. Well, I can only speak for myself as a Maine fan. I have always enjoyed, when I can get down, the visits to your rink. And I have always enjoyed the company of your fan base. I have met and played pool with you all when that brew house was there. Having said all of that, I got a chance to download a video on your coach and his near death/brain damage experience and how he had a winning spirit that got him through it all. And how his family got him through it. Big fan of your coach now. :)

Having said all of that, I will cheer for Lowell throughout the rest of the season. It might not be much, but as a Black Bear fan, hopefully the puck luck will be with you. :D

Go Riverhawks! :)

“That was one of the best college hockey series I’ve been involved with in my career,” said Sneddon.

I agree with him, really fun weekend of hockey to watch.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

Yeah, have to agree. One of the best series I've ever had the pleasure to watch. As much as some of our guys like to pick on UVM, their guys played a phenomenal series. It was a treat to watch these three games ... nail biters, all of them. I really hope that UVM makes the NCAAs.

I believe last night's win solidifies our hopes as well.

Now bring on Notre Dame. See you all at the Harp!
