UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

It looked to me watching the replay on the big screen that the ref's hand was already up in the air before the puck hit the UVM guy in the face. It still made no sense since Arnold was prone on the ice and his stick never appeared to come close. The replay of the first goal seemed to show that the UVM player shot the puck to space in an effort to get the deflection; if so kudos if not lucky SOB. It was a much better overall effort but still lacked a lot of quality scoring chances. If Hellebuyck doesn't give up a poorly directed rebound we might still be at the rink instead of home licking our wounds.

yes... but i don't blame hellebuyck... terrible decisions lead to that.

anyways, I like how you can fall and then just tumble into a guys face on the way down the two seconds before the arnold farce... of course, you can't call that... that's a hockey play

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

If Vermont had stolen the game, fine. Benedetto stole the game. Any other rationalization of that call and the goal that resulted is just flat out wrong.

So let me get this correct....A ref makes a bad call allowing the road team to win the second game of a HE quarterfinal.

Boy that sure does sound VERY familier doesnt it? Somewhere Victor Stalburg is smiling.

A fluke goal off a skate with no Vermont player within 6 feet of the net and a gift PP that Mr. Magoo would have called correctly. Lowell's due for some puck luck, I hope it catches up tomorrow afternoon.

Like the fluke deflection two Fridays ago or the one this Friday? i quess only UML are allowed to get Flukes

Benedetto is an absolute joke. Too stupid to realize a player gets smoked by the puck and not a high stick and hands Vermont a PP. The lesson here is to scream obscenities and whine at the officials so you get the calls the next night. Hope Bazin took notes.

Lowell was the better team all night, and it wasn't close. Although I'm sure some Lowell fans here will say they were awful and only played for 10 minutes or something equally asinine.

OMG, this is the funniest thing I've read in a while. Your rant includes bad luck, the refs, and best of all, your fellow Lowell fans! Expect a call from Websters in the morning. They're gonna need a pic to put next to the definition of sore loser.

No kidding...talk about a whiny little *****... bet he threatens to cut off the power or something if they are losing;)

Okay yeah that call was iffy and personally I thought it stunk but other question for you guys. Earlier in the game, I think in the first, couple players went down and were slow to get up down by UVM's side of the ice. Who were they and did they come back at all?

I don't recall the UVM player but the UML player was Chapie and he played the remainder of the game.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

There was no high stick on the play, but there was a penalty. Arnold got laid out and then put the UVM player in a leg lock when he tried to get up and skate away. Lowell outplayed UVM tonight but failed to score. They had many possessions in the offensive zone that lasted three shifts straight. They got shots, but weren't able to put the rebounds home. I do like Lowell tomorrow. Scott Wilson has been the best player on the ice, Michael Fallon has played some of the best hockey in his two years at Lowell, and I think Bazin > Sneddon, and I put a lot of stock in the coaching staff.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

That call was atrocious, but almost as bad was Paliotta's spear on Arnold in the 2nd that went uncalled as well.

Scott McLaughlin ‏@smclaughlin9 3h
Paliotta just got away with a quick spear to Derek Arnold's midsection- maybe even a lower part of the body.

Shawn Hutcheon ‏@ShawnHutcheon 3h
#UVM Paliotta spears #UML Arnold and gets away with it. @LowellSunSports

What you were seeing on the replay was the linesman arm in the air signaling offsides.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

Agree with the leg lock. He looked like a dog on someone's leg. Even if the puck didn't hit the guy in the face it was a penalty. On the otherhand to call high stick was a moment of blindness.

And UUTF was it with the camera guys cutting to the UVM celebrations, esp at the end? Cheezus, Mary and Crackers! I have no problem with the band being there but who were those video people for?

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

Frustrating loss last night. Thought the team played pretty well though, and unfortunately the bounces didn't go their way. As soon as I saw Wilson's pass to McGrath fail, I knew we were in trouble. The penalty call was awful of course, but it's Hockey East, I don't expect much.

Hoping desperately for a better result today. Btw full credit to this UVM squad, they're not leaving anything behind in this series (cheap shots or not).

And from another board...

It's amazing how four officials can get together after the play and still go with the high sticking call.

I really can't tell where the high stick would have been. Only time I can really think of it would be when they were going down and I didn't get a view of that to really confirm it.

Well its all said and done, let's just hope that tonight we get to capitalize on some of those offensive chances that we were able to generate.

From another thread. Frustrating considering how well they have played for much of that time.

Vermont and UML have now played 250+minutes this year and so far UML has held the lead for only 1:18.

As soon as the Vermont player got hit in the mask with the puck, the referees arm went up. He must have assumed that Arnold hit him with his stick but we all know that did not happen. All this was right in front of where I sit.

I blame you for this BTW, you wanted a third game. ;)

Interesting to note that while Sneedon *****ed and moaned Friday night to the media, I haven't noticed anything by Bazin about his team's getting an even more controversial call against them.

He outsourced that to Patronick ;)
