UML 2012 Offseason Thread: "If this is a dream, don't wake me!"

Re: UML 2012 Offseason Thread: "If this is a dream, don't wake me!"

I meant the rest of them :p. at one point I had figured football for BC

Football for UMass too. Home game against Buffalo the Saturday before the game with the RiverHawks. I assume that UMass is trying to maximize attendance by not having the hockey and football teams play the same day on opposite sides of the state.

Maybe I have revisionist history at work but this business of games on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays/Sundays at weird times isn't something I remember until the last few yrs. Makes me wonder why hockey does not respect itself and is acting like the stepchild. Maine on a Sunday night as a single game. UUTF?

BU is moving to the Patriot League in all sports other than hockey. Seems like a perfect time for Lowell to make the jump up to America East.

There was also some talk about Merrimack looking to move to DI in all sports.

Speaking of the America East, Stony Brook is have a great season in baseball and has made it all the way to the College World Series in Omaha. Their first game is this afternoon (5:00 pm ESPN2) against UCLA.

Not sure if you saw this from a couple of weeks ago.

Yep, I posted it here originally. I get the feeling that the university is on the fence about it and trying to weigh the pros and cons. That's good because it's an important thing to decide, but hopefully they don't let the opportunity of all this recent conference realignment slip by them.

Ah, well then I apologize.

As much as I want them to do this, I want them to do it right. Make sure you're ready to make this move, you don't want to fail at this. Rushing in, I think, is a terrible idea.

I agree... I also remember when I heard rumors that Merrimack was going to drop to D-III.

Lowell has the right mentality... I would think a lot better than many of the also-rans... But you have to also deal with the mentality in the state when it comes to the state schools. After all, somebody has to fund this thing.

Edit: I would not be shocked if somebody told me that we have better operations than a third of D-1... IMO, we're still at the starting point... Lot more work to solidify ourselves ahead.

Former head coach Blaise MacDonald has been named the new hockey coach at Colby College. The best of luck to Blaise.

There hasn't been an official release, and his bio isn't on the website yet, but former UML player Tommy Powers has been named the new Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for the Phoenix Coyotes.
