UML 2011-2012 Thread: Part II

Re: UML 2011-2012 Thread: Part II

You can do deals like that for the community when you don't play in an embarrassing aircraft hanger that fits under 2500 people.
UML would still be playing at Tully forum if not for a $20M contribution from the Commonwealth for Tsongas. My guess is that if you had to "self fund" you'd be playing in something that looked like Hockeytown (the old Melrose version).

Possible. However, looking at the two schools undergrad enrollment 14.7K vs 2.1K, odds are they could afford to do something better than Tully in your hypothetical world. But that problem was solved (in reality) 16 years ago.

Lowell has a good track record on games The Garden Legend sings the anthem. Let's keep it up.

I've been told that Rancourt sang the anthem at Merrimack recently but only gave the crowd two fist pumps. A full house this weekend will ellicit a few more than two hopefully.

Re: UML 2011-2012 Thread: Part II

It puts you up around Derry, NH.

A better question is, who is Joe Buco?

Who is Kamress?

edit: BGSU won in 1984, not BC

amateur hour reigns

edit: our record isn't 20-9-5

I found even more. In the very first line they talk about Lowell going to the tourney for the 1st time since 1996, "when Dwayne Roloson patrolled the River Hawk pipes." Now, we all know that he graduated in 1994, but if you click on the link for his name, it takes you to his stat page, which also shows that he played in Lowell until 1994. The editor of that article should be fired. There are at least 10 separate errors in that article.

Re: UML 2011-2012 Thread: Part II

Not to mention the fact that the article strongly implies that we've already as-good-as-made the tourney, which is Jinx City (if you believe that kind of thing)

Re: UML 2011-2012 Thread: Part II

While I appreciate the well-intentioned nature of the piece, the basic research, factual, writing, and editing miscues found throughout are mind boggling. I'm eagerly awaiting our friends at the Ice is Life ripping it apart as only they can do in their witty manner.

The piece is even inconsistent within itself as with the previoulsy noted "Joe Buco" reference, he correctly identifies "Stephen Buco" earlier in the article. How do you get a player's name right and then wrong later in the same article? Crazy.

GoRiverhawks.com has this up on their main page. Wonder if anyone at UML read through it before posting it?

Did anyone at NHL.com read it before posting it?

Jim and Dave both picking Lowell for the sweep this weekend.

In previous years this is where I would complain about the kiss of death, Hockey East being fixed (not that it isn't, just sayin'..) or jinxes.

Not with this team. Not with the talent they have. Not with this coach behind the bench.

Go Lowell!

Indeed, the River Hawks showed all of us, especially myself, what they were made of on Saturday night. Arguably speaking, that was their biggest regular-season road win in February during their Hockey East tenure considering what was on the line. I'm not going to take much stock into media, in fact, I'm not going to take much stock into my own thoughts for the weekend. It's simply time to watch two great hockey games this weekend and let the chips fall where they may. Something tells me that we'll know pretty quickly if these are two teams going in opposite directions.
