Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

QFT. This has been Lowell's albatross as long as I've been watching them. When you don't expect a hell of a lot they come out and surprise you. Once people start noticing their success and writing about the team it's like they immediately crash back to earth. Hard.
If you expect too much they surely will not meet your expectations. They played awful last night- one game out of the last 4. This isn't a fantasy hockey team. We have an inexperienced team, a new coach and goaltending that was a question mark from the getgo. Until they won the last few everyone was happy if they played hard. Whatever unrealistic expectations they are labeled with they are still going to plod along and develop like a fine wine. Not all at once.

from what i heard on the radio, they had a few chances, none of them were particularly golden... you know what, this is going to happen... either you aren't prepared for what they're bringing or things don't go your way. This will happen even if we're good. Take it all in stride and take it out on the next opponent.

Amhersto delenda est.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

the predictable split on the weekend... another good win... a little bit of turkey, gnaw on a bit of horse, and then back to our regularly schedule HEA gauntlet.

edit: of course let's say it... 6th win on the season... one more than Blaise last year and done in 10 games.

Back to the land of Oz, Toto. Man, they really turned it on. The students were amazing and even more stayed til the end. Don't look now but we may have a real fan base building.

Shhhh, don't scare them away. Newb fans are very skittish :p

Walked in the door 10 minutes ago. Lowell played very well and showed they can rebound after playing poorly the previous night. Excellent crowd. Must have been around 4,800-5,000. Great showing by the students.

Bottom line? 6-4-0 and in the middle of the pack in Hockey East.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Awesome game tonight, and equally awesome to see both Blaise and uml players shake hands after the game. Not sure if anyone caught that

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

The interview with Norm on the pre-game show seemed to indicate the scratches of Brickler and Wilson were of the healthy/motivational nature after the dismal performance by the majority of the team on Friday. In regards to that, he said (approx) 'Well, on nights like that we chalk it up to the team not showing up and do our best to ensure the team does show up the following night'

Hopefully, at the very least, we have our #1 goalie locked until he loses it? Please? (pretty please?)

Wonderful game last night, you should have come! ;)

Lowell's now in fifth place in HE, having played two less games than UNH (1 point ahead of Lowell) and BU (3 points ahead). Carr is second in HE in GAA (2.00) and 4th in save percentage.

Overall that was a great response by the River Hawks last night, in front of another good crowd (4,924).

Did you have fun hanging out with those UMass fans last night :D

I thought it was a good crowd but getting nearly 5,000 in the building for a game against UMass is awesome.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

4pm start is for the Holiday Skate after the game.

I think someone told me that last night. My bad :o

Would be great to see 2,000 in the building on Friday. As we all know the day after Thanksgiving is an odd day. Some company's give their employees the day off, while others don't. People are traveling, etc. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict about 200 students showing up.

I can't make it, I'm working, sorry :p ;) :D
