Yes you will. Here's hoping we can actually have a celebratory beer after. Wow, this team needs a win tonight.

If you have nieces like I do that watch High School Musical, Camp Rock, etc twenty times over when you have to babysit them, you know all of the Disney songs. You replace the basketball talk with hockey, "summer" with "season" and Wildcats with "River Hawks" and this is what this post has been like.

Tonight's game is probably the most defining regular season game for this River Hawks over their four year career. Here, a one-goal loss or tie is probably most damaging than a five-goal loss. So in the immortal words of Jake Taylor....

"Well, then, I guess there's only one thing to do..."
"What's that"
"Win the whole (bleepin') thing"

:D :D :D

i don't think i'll be doing that, and no amount of niece-explaining will ever convince me that this is not the most embarrassing post by a grown man on the internet of all time.

any sentence by a human being over the age of 12 that could start with "this reminds me of high school musical because..." is a mortifying sentence

I'll tell you one thing, the amount of money I see their parents' spend on all of that Disney crap is making the grown men that thought up the idea, very very wealthy. I have no qualms wishing I had a small piece of that coin in my pocket.

All joking aside, the win is the most important part and what the boys need tonight to simply bring it to the table, no matter what you compare it to.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Excellent win tonight. Lowell played their game.

Holmstrom set the tone 20 seconds into the game when he leveled a BC player behind the BC net setting up a Lowell goal that was waived off (where have I seen that before?).

It was a lively crowd and a very enjoyable evening.

You feel very good.

I don't know where this team was but I hope they show up every night. Auger was insane on the power kill, Blair played well, Hutts was Holy Catfish. I didn't even have to hold my breath too much. They even played the 3rd period.

BC has some sick moves.

Hutton was insane. Schaus was his old self with 5 or 6 huge checks.

Lets hope they keep the momentum going tomorrow.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

By far, this was the best game I've seen Lowell play in a long, long time. A much needed win to keep the home ice question as a possibility and after the results of tonight, it definitely is.

There's really not much to say about tonight's game, it was a quick, up-tempo type game with lots of special teams. Lowell, again, won the battle of the special teams with two PP goals to BC's one. BC has some really skilled forwards but Lowell played like the desperate team that they needed to be.

Will be interesting to see how the 5:00 start and the trip to the larger ice surface at Conte will play into the River Hawks hand. Certainly, all of the pressure is on BC. I guess Lowell really did "work it out" :D  :p...life's too short to be miserable.

Team to Watch: Northeastern
Team in Danger: UMass Amherst...if they lose tomorrow, they have to play their last 4/5 on the road at Merrimack, BC and two at Maine.

As far as seedings go tonight...

Providence was mathematically eliminated from home ice with a loss to UNH
By that same loss, UMA can not finish in 10th

For tomorrow...

UNH clinches a playoff spot with a Merrimack loss.
With a win, BU will not finish 10th; also with a win, Lowell will do no worse than be tied for 10th.

That's it folks, only five points separates 2nd from 7th and it's wide open. It will be the Maine series that determines if we get home ice.

When was the last time this happened... with the win tonight, the seniors clinched a winning record against BC in their careers (regular season wise).

they haven't played BC in their postseason careers. playoff opponents have been BU four times (1-3), vermont twice (2-0) and northeastern once (1-0).

I added the regular season wise because if Lowell was to lose tomorrow night and then in the HE semifinals or finals, they would then be @ .500.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

congrats to UML, played a near perfect game and BC continues to have real problems with them. I enjoyed my trip to the Tsongas Center again, lively crowd and student section, good atmosphere , great venue for college hockey, you guys have something really nice going on up there..........

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Lowell played BC like the Giants played the Patriots in the Super Bowl. They played the perfect defensive game to win...and they did it twice in a span of three weeks. So kudos to UML for a stellar game plan both times.

BC ought to win tonight, mostly because they're probably pretty angry about last night. The Eagles knew what they'd be facing last night, and still succumbed to it anyway.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

So that's what it looks like when you play 60 minutes. Hmmm ...

Auger was a beast on the penalty kill last night. Great game for him, and glad to see he got a couple of assists as well. I don't like that they couldn't score 5-on-5 but I'll happily take the win. Outshot yet again though.

i have generally no complaints about the game... but i missed parts due to m computer being annoying. Not sure how we let up 17 shots in the 2nd though.

We took eight minutes of penalties in the first 13 minutes of the period. That'll do it.
