What are the chances of Irwin being back for the series against BC next week?
Just curious what happened in the Sunday afternoon game. Terrible shame to lose a game in that manner.
Those d-zone breakdowns happen... That's hockey, better now rather than in a must win situation. Harss and Steck have things covered for this season, but what will UMD do for next year? Rely on a freshmen?
Paige Turner, and whoever else Shannon recruits should get a shot to compete for the job.. unless something comes up I wouldn't be surprised to see Paige redshirt this year as the third, and still have 4 years eligibility remaining.. given the quotes out there that they will try to give Steck more ice time this year that could be the plan. After that we'll see when recruits start to be announced
Goalies are still okay if they dress, but they can't take the ice in a game -- I think exhibitions are exempted. Once a player actually competes, then the only redshirt allowed is a medical redshirt that has different rules.Wait- has she been dressing though? When do you officially redshirt? When conference play starts?

I have no idea regarding the procedure. Whether paperwork has to be filed, or if the student athlete is already covered under the "five years to play four season" rule, I don't know. There is a request, appeal, or whatever the process is called for medical redshirts and other special cases like when one is centralized with a national team whether or not they actually make the team.So can a goalie declare a redshirt season at any point of her current schedule (provided that she has not played any minutes)?

One BC player had the puck in the UMD zone in a corner.. 4 Bulldogs were battling her for the puck.. not sure who the BC player was but UMD had both Lacquette and Villila on defense and they were both in the corner.. they didn't recover in time when the puck finally was worked out and Carpenter was pretty much alone with a lane to shoot on Harss, she put it over the glove hand I believe.. that's my observation of the game winning goal
I'm certain Lacquette was not out on that last goal..there were 2 left handed D out there. Lacquette shoots right if my memory serves me right. Either way, weak side D needs to support or hinge to middle of ice...she was way to far over to support her D partner.
The two Finns, Villila and Posa, were on D. The worst part of it was that the Bulldogs were on a power play at the time.
