Well I'd still show up...hell yeah. And if the Bulldogs don't make the Frozen Four on their own ice, how will that impact attendance for the tournament?
One thing that UMD will have on its side next weekend is incentive. These games are huge for the Bulldogs, while the Beavers are locked into sixth and have no chance of an at-large bid into the NCAA. So while the games are big for BSU in terms of getting to play in front of its fans with a chance to beat UMD, the series is meaningless for the hosts in the big picture. The only way I see UMD getting an at large bid is beating Wisconsin or Minnesota during the Final Faceoff.. along with beating Bemidji at least once ...

While true, I just don't think that will make winning two in Bemidji any less difficult for UMD. Expect the typical monster effort from the Beavers, and as Sertich said, ZT has been playing the best she's ever played for them. That's saying something indeed. One thing that UMD will have on its side next weekend is incentive. Yes, but OSU had almost as much incentive (not as much as UMD in the at-large bid sense.)They should have had enough incentive tonight to put OSU 2 games behind
I admire the heck out of BSU. However, over the last three weeks, they've traveled to face the teams that are currently #2, #1, and #4 in the PWR. How's that for a brutal schedule? For a team that prospers on hard work, I'd think that at some point the energy tanks would have to be a bit depleted after that stretch. While true, I just don't think that will make winning two in Bemidji any less difficult for UMD. I'd also be curious to hear from other UMD fans how the Pairwise rankings work. Seven of UMD's 12 losses were to the teams who have consistently been #1 and #2 all year. We have actually beat the #2 team once. The two things that really puzzle me about UMD's #9 ranking: first, how can North Dakota be ranked 4th, five places above UMD, when UMD has played ND four times, beat them twice, tied and won the shootout once, and lost only once; second, how Northeastern can be ranked ahead of UMD when they've played Boston College four times and not won a game, and we've won against Boston College by 7-2 and lost by 3-2. And Northeastern has not played many other games against higher ranked opponents, while UMD has played a total of 14 games against higher ranked opponents and won or tied 5 of those. I thought strength of schedule was a factor....
Here's an experiment that in my hockey fantasy world, I'd love to see. Take the 8th ranked team in the WCHA and the top ranked team in any of the other leagues, whichever league is considered the best of those. Switch them for one season. See what happens. My guess is that the bottom ranked WCHA team finishes somewhere in the top half of their "new" league. The top ranked team from the non-WCHA league finishes in the bottom half of the WCHA. If wishes were horses...
Ouch...that lose dropped us out of the top 10...this does not look good. Can we make up enough ground to climb back in. The teams that moved ahead of us may be tough to knock out. We may have to win the playoff title to get in...?
Any comments on this? It looked like every body dropped off the radar after Fri...
Thibault tossed by Miller, not by the ref!Good to know that some coaches have the cajones to send a player to the powder room for a dumb hit. I didn't see the play... just speaking in general terms.
That seems to be Steck's career save percentage. The author likely looked at the wrong line in the stats when compiling the information....the career save percentage credited to Harss (.940) doesn't jive with the stats on UMD's own site (.929).
