Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

Eek. Sounds like a good game to miss. Glad to hear abt Boyle.
Yeah, agree on all this.

I think we walked into this season (well, most of us) thinking the offense would be the strength, and the defense and goal as the question marks. I'd have to say it's been the opposite so far. As good as Boyle and the D have been (4 goals allowed in 4 games), the offense has been ... blah.

Need a win tonight and get the first tiebreaker over MC.

Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

In the last two seasons, Merrimack is 0-18-3 on the road in Hockey East. 7-27-3 on the road overall. What makes Lawler Rink so magical?

I wonder if they brought those illegal dimensions with them, cuz Lowell looks lost again in the first period.

I'm just saying every trip to Lawler i did a double take at how small it felt. Merrimack seems to have come out of the gate strong this year. Need a strong third period obviously.

At Tech v FSU. any updates appreciated. CHN App pretty hit ormiss

Ugh. I feel like I just watched the same game two nights in a row. At least they escape the weekend without a loss and it's on to Duluth. Hopefully they'll remember how to shoot and score next weekend and stop the overpassing and trying to set up the perfect shot.

It is the size of a postage stamp and they have big bodies

Was Campbell a healthy scratch tonight?

Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

Lowell played much better tonight. I felt like the Lowell players alternated between being impatient (and shooting the puck directly into the Merrimack skaters) or holding the puck way too long (and shooting the puck directly into the Merrimack skaters).

I agree with the fancy plays. When a team is all over you like Merrimack was, you can't be trying for the one touch passes and leaving the puck for the trailer to skate onto. Almost every single time it ended up going the other way.

Lowell needs to increase their effort ten fold if they're going to have a prayer of getting any points out of Duluth.

Interestingly enough, according to Hockey East Online, Lawler's dimensions are 200 x 85, the same as Schneider, Alfond, UConn, and (surprise!) Tsongas. But then again, maybe the guy that counts the shots on goal is doing the measuring!:D

If def seems smaller, perhaps the low ceiling? Regardless, SOMETHING makes it hard to play in.

There's less room behind the nets and the corners are narrower. Plus, the 10 foot ceiling really cements the tomb like atmosphere.
