Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

Shortly after joining HEA their fans sort of disappeared on here if I recall correctly. They claimed the disdain they were getting from the Hockey East fans was too much and did not seem good natured in the same way as their old CCHA rivalries/chirping. I think it was Jeff Jackson for Prez who said that, but thats just the name I remember.

Babies. But as I recall, there were never many of them anyway.

please sweep

Including a squeaky ball upset Saturday afternoon? You ask a lot. Then again that plus a soul crushing "home" loss at Fenway might just be enough to cause them to drop NCAA athletics altogether.

What's less likely, Lowell beats ND on the hardwood or BC beats ND at Fenway?

Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

Lowell's record vs. Notre Dame the last two seasons since they joined Hockey East is 6-1-1 with 3 shutouts (26 GF/12 GA). If past success is any indication, odds are in Lowell's favor this weekend.

It should be a good weekend of hockey. Hopefully the offensive output continues. I would like to see Evan Campbell get hot. He's hasn't had a point in 7 games.

Campbell's been pretty invisible all season with exception of winning faceoffs but nice to see CJ Smith cranking it up the last several games. Hopefully Campbell will start to get hot soon also. Boyle has been the surprise of the season so far though in my mind, really stepping up his senior year and the backbone (as well as the rest of the defense) of many of the wins while the offense is looking to get on track. I shudder to think what their record would be otherwise with the offense being slow out the gate.

Agree about Boyle, he really looks confident and has played very well. The defense has also played well for the most part. I sometimes forget they're a pretty young unit (2 Jr., 3 So. & Fr.).

No chit! On a scale of 1 -60, Providence is #7 and Maine #60 in offense. Can't beat any better than 60.
The fix is in... Boyle got jobbed!

An argument that might hold water if Demko hadn't just got POTW for stopping 60/60 against Maine the week before. Boyle stops 66/67 and the one he gives up is a 6x4 garbage time goal and it's suddenly less deserving? Please.

I don't think Boyle was undeserving. Neither did the conference. They honored him with the award. Just pointing out why they may have thought another player was as deserving and they gave out co-awards.

However, it never was about Boyle getting jobbed, was it? You've got your panties in a bunch because Demko got an award.

FWIW, I agree with this assessment. Boyle has kept his team out of the loss column in multiple games where his team's offense has not shown up. I've been impressed. It's not hard to notice if one is paying attention around the league.

I suppose there are some here that would take GREAT offense if Lowell were not ranked top 10 in the polls. But take a look at the schedule and it would not be a stretch if they were dropped because of strength of schedule. Same with BC... a nice record against weak teams. No need to get upset if they were dropped. We know Lowell is a good team. We know BC is a good team. Relax and enjoy the hockey.

Did I say anything when Demko won last week? No. It has nothing to do with Demko and everything to do with Boyle getting jobbed and lumped in with two lesser performances.

But please keep throwing your theories against the wall until you get one to stick.

Who would have thought years ago we would have people arguing about this kind of stuff? Ah, the fruits of progress :D

Jeez, you'd think the UVM goalie beat out Boyle!!!! I know how you love them.

This has more to do with that fact that a BACK UP GOALIE (and don't kid yourself - LaCouvee has been playing regularly but he pretty much started the season as the team's #2 goalie) backstopped his team playing the #1 team in the country and preventing them from sweeping BU, rather than Boyle, who is SUPPOSED to beat Maine.
