Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

I didn't catch much of the game, I chose to watch the Patriots instead, however conveniently I was able to see three of the Lowell goals during commercial breaks. Nice to see another good offensive showing. They've scored 6 goals in three of the last five games.

Also, the team was about 30 seconds away from shutting out Maine for the weekend. Very impressive!

Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

We watched game on NESN. Very entertaining. The announcers were kind of funny. On the Maine goal that was canned, we heard the play real time and could hear the whistle and believed it to be the key factor in refs discussion though the announcers had no idea.

Two versus Our Lady of the Lake this coming weekend...

The Tsongas will be crawling with fake Notre Dame wannabees this weekend. Just hope the new arena lighting helps tone down the glare off ND's ridiculous helmets or UML is having a sunglass giveaway.

That may be especially true Friday since the football team is in town to "host" BC at Fenway.

I don't think we'll see too many of them on Saturday though. They'll be in their $600 wooden seats.

Speaking of crowds, that was a nice turnout Friday night.

I saw it mentioned in the BC thread that attendance at BC and across the league has been down this season. Nice to see that Lowell is still drawing well. The early season crowds have been as big as I can remember in recent years. Lowell is leading the league in attendance, and by quite a bit.

Nice to see the sellout vs. an o-fer Maine team where you think you'd see a few less fans. Just shows you that UML is a draw now and long gone are the days a few years ago when they'd tarp off sections of seating. And although Maine doesn't travel as well as in past years, there were still a decent amount of Maine fans there too.

And is also 9th in the nation in attendance so far this season, averaging 5,451 a game for 91% of capacity.

this would be completely awesome. The new lights will probably bilnd us all when they flash on the ugly heads.

They'll have to have a pre-game warning about possible seizures from the strobe effect it would create.

Does Notre Dame have any posters on here? I can't find a thread for them.

Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

Lowell stays 5th in the polls and Boyle is co-defensive player of the week.

Boyle getting passed over for POTW and sharing DPOTW is typical Hockey East. I know math is hard, but a .985 save percentage > .941 and .948.

What a joke.

"LaCouvee stopped 64 of 68 shots from Providence en route to two draws on the weekend. He has allowed just one even-strength goal in the last 10 periods of play."

Boyle has also allowed just one even strength goal in his last 10 periods.

Talk about cherry picking to rationalize giving out a co-award. Convenient they ignored that 2nd period (four games ago!) where he gave up 3 even strength goals.

They want to pass it around... Worse things to get upset about out there

Shortly after joining HEA their fans sort of disappeared on here if I recall correctly. They claimed the disdain they were getting from the Hockey East fans was too much and did not seem good natured in the same way as their old CCHA rivalries/chirping. I think it was Jeff Jackson for Prez who said that, but thats just the name I remember.

No chit! On a scale of 1 -60, Providence is #7 and Maine #60 in offense. Can't beat any better than 60.
The fix is in... Boyle got jobbed!
