UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread II

Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread II

Which some people here complained about when they did it that way. I hope they go back to it.
They should. Lowell gives the option to buy the tix at start of season or at end.

So Friday's game is at 7:30? That will help with the commute up there. Which is relatively easy but always a pain on a Friday night.
The later start times on Fridays have definitely been helpful for others. NESN's acquiring the game, moving it from 7:15 to 7:30, is an extra bonus.

14th would be scary. Michigan was swept by Ohio State this weekend. I'd say its highly likely a 3rd auto bid comes from the Big 10. Another team to keep an eye on is UMD. Their recent success has probably helped Lowell given there is a bonus for a road win against a quality team, however we're in another situation this year where a team with a .500 record from the NCHC may take one of the last remaining spots.

Michigan (t-8th PWR) split with Minny in the regular season, and Minny has been looking better.
It's possible that Minny wins the BI6 tourney, and 13th is the last safe spot in the PWR.

As this is the lowell thread... that's why Lowell needs to win this series... so they come out of all of this at worst 2-2 and then get one of the last at-large spots. If its 0-2 grab the clubs... if its 1-2 then pray. 2-1 sweat a bit... 2-0 start figuring out airplane contingencies.

Sorry, got ahead of myself and posted an incomplete thought.

I meant to also add, that this series is likely to go 2-1 either way, and I don't think Lowell will drop lower than 13, so you should be pretty safe.
Ideally, ND and BC would win their series in 2 as well, which is easier said than done, but not overly unlikely. I say Lowell makes the tourney.

If it's 1-2 I'll be fairly nervous... One day I'll get that probability module programmed. I'm trying to think through how to program tiebreakers. Making some progress.

I could do so some stuff but I don't have the current version of RPI coded up yet. I tried last year and failed

According to CHN, Lowell has a 99% chance of making the tourney: http://www.collegehockeynews.com/ratings/probabilityMatrix.php

Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread II

mookie is sure the math guy there will find a hole in that 99% :p

I think there should be a Mookie Meet n' Greet at Tsongas this weekend. Maybe we can get Jasmine to stop by unless the restraining order is still in effect.

then maybe our case is stronger than I'm willing to admit. Why the weird amount of MC sims?

oh, I see, its still running.

edit: are there leagues that still run 3rd place games? That'd be my only real constructive quibble... ties. I can't imagine a substantive impact... at least not this weekend.

edit: margin of error at roughly 16K calculations (still running)... 0.7%
