Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

yeah, they all count... the PP thing bothers me more... Lowell has to be ready for teams to play them aggressively... they shouldn't be surprised at this point.
I am chosing to ignore all that, be unthinking and enjoy it. I am from the era of when we played BU, even when we played well, all sorts of odd things happened but we never won.

Well said. Definitely savoring this win :)

Winning at BU is a treat. :)

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

9 in a row; Wow. This team has become the team I thought they would be before the season started. Bring on Northeastern.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

#6 in the Pairwise right now!

Awesome game! I wish they hadn't coasted through the final 6 minutes, even on the radio I could tell, but any time and any way we beat BU is a great night in my book.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

Yeah. Then 4-2 and 4-3 and we had a 5 min major power play which we sucked on, and they nearly tied it during it. I feel fortunate to have the two points, but we did, and it's 9 in a row now with two must-wins vs NU next weekend.
Yeah, I thought they played tentative and not to make a mistake late in the game, which of course caused them to make them. It would have been much easier to score on those late PP's and end it. They had some 5 on 3 time too. I thought the team played great in the first two periods. They really skated and generated a lot of scoring chances. They could have easily had a couple more goals in that first period. BU also hit a couple of posts tonight. A well deserved two points.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

"Must-win" gets thrown around way too often. I don't believe Lowell must win BOTH games against Northeastern next weekend. It would be great if they did but they would still be in great shape with a split. Still plenty of time left in the season. I would love to see a sweep next weekend and think its possible, but both games aren't must wins.

Great effort all around by Lowell tonight. Slowed down at the end of the 3rd but overall, I was impressed with their play. Anytime they can go into Boston University and come away with two points, its a great night! Here's to #10 in a row! On a side note, I am really excited about the future of this team going forward. McGrath, Hellebuyck, Chapie... love these guys!

One game at a time. I expect a tough series with the Huskies.

Wow, Penn State beats UVM tonight.

I'll look at it this way... don't take the foot off the gas pedal... wins are insurance in case of losses.

In front of 19k (supposedly). Wow.

Great win for Lowell. Yes, they almost blew a 4-1 lead ... key word is almost. At the end of the day, no one will remember the details, just that Lowell won at BU. For their 9th straight win.

A win at NU next Friday sets a record at the D1 level for Lowell.

On a side note ... Wilson and Ruhwedel are about as hot as you can imagine them. This is fun. :)

Sucks that the PK streak ended, but that just means time to start another one. The PP play tonight, back to being a disappointment again. Oh, welcome back Derek Arnold, you've been missed!

The results last night (it is Sunday morning now after all) now put HE into a complete cluster-bleep. Outside of BC, from 2nd (UNH) to 6th (Lowell) is only split by 4 points. And Lowell has a game in hand (and the current tie-breaker) on the two teams tied for third (BU and PC), but are 3 points behind.

BTW, if this doesn't bring the students back on Saturday night...

I'll repeat ... now this is fun. Bring on the pound puppies.

I have to say, I'm usually pretty good about this ... which is why I'm posting this on our thread ... but the UVM fan that said not getting 4 points from Lowell last weekend (at home) would be inexcusable, what's the excuse for losing to Penn State? Ouch.

Just noticed your little comment under your user name. We sit in the same section.

You prob don't wanna know. :)

They're pretty unhappy over there, want Sneddom out. One poster even pointed to our success with Bazin as a reason to do so.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

Was at the Bruins game last night (man was it nice to see the black and gold skating again). While at the game, I was checking the game on the CHN app, and they guy next to me noticed it. He was like "so you're a big time hockey fan I see, love the college game?" Turns out he Is a UNH alum, and loves wildcat hockey. He follows college hockey pretty closely, and stated: "tsongas center is unbelievable, my favorite place to watch college hockey" & "I will tell you this, that team is on fire, I am so glad we are not playing Lowell anymore, Lowell is back in my eyes". he mentioned other great things about the team, but found out that Kamrass was very close to playing at UNH. Thought that was interesting. Not sure if its true, but thought it was interesting.

Anyway, thought UML people would want to know how others think this team is for real. He was really impressed in the win streak and beating PC and BU.

That was me. As I've said in the past, I really dig your team and how you guys play hockey. You represent everything that UVM should strive to be. You get the most out of what you have, while we get the least. Yeah, Sneddon's gotta go.

How close is UVM to a new stadium? For a good period of time, when your recruiting was very good, it seemed you were getting a high level of younger players (like Brickley). Most of your future recruits are like ours actually, 20-21 year old freshmen now, which I find interesting.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

I want to thank the czar of "Jack Parker Rink at Agannis Arena" ( ego anyone ? ) for putting Pesky and son on the HD screen after goal #2 ! I hope someone didn't lose their job for putting up a Riverhawk on the screen :D
Great teamwork for 2+ periods then nightmares of last years 'let's make it exciting' formula ; who cares as long as it is a W, and against BU just makes it sweeter.

That was cool.

FWIW, as much as I have issues with the guy, I'm going to guess that it wasn't Parker's idea to name the rink after himself and even may have resisted the idea. Even if it was, winning over 800 games at the same school I'd say entitles him to some ego.

Thanks, nice to hear. Hope you guys get a new coach and a new arena soon.

To be honest, in some ways I think we've just captured lightning in a bottle... every coaching change is a chance to relive that... who knows. What I hadn't realized was that Sneddon has been there awhile already

Unfortunately, not very close, I don't think. It's at least being talked about more now than in the past, which is hopefully a good sign. But I'm not holding my breath.

Well I think you do whatever you can to put a quality product on the ice. Right now, there's no compelling reason for a high-level young player to choose UVM. Who wants to get their butt kicked every night? In a few years everyone on our roster will either be from western Canada, or have played hockey in western Canada.
