Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

I gotta agree. Why is this an issue, does anyone know?
I just asked Mr who says it isn't fair if teamsa are closer to each other they can go see but the outlying teams don't have that advantage. BooHoo. Maine sure suffered from that when they did all that winning and that was before all the video.

Cue up Scott K with the latest and most accurate weather report.... :waits expectantly:

One storm at a time - I'm still looking at the one for tonight/tomorrow.

I will also be heading into Matthews on Friday.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

Ranked 15 in the latest USCHO poll? Geesh, after 9 straight and beating 2 TUC this weekend including a top 10 I thought we'd get more respect than that.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

We generally get them at the door for Matthews as there's not been a need to do otherwise of late. Given their current record, guessing that is still the case.

Correct, I wasn't planning to pick up in advance.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

Betting most of us aren't worrying about that.

Agreed, the ranking is for the whole season, not just the past nine games. When we beat teams like Boston College, UNH, Denver (all of them kicked our ***** this season), then we can talk about moving into the top tiers of the polls. Let's worry about getting into one of the home ice spots first, before looking at polls and NCAA rankings. They still need a lot of wins for the latter to happen.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

1) 6th place in our division we should be lucky to be ranked as high as they do. As mentioned in the blog article this week our TUC does not count until we have 10 TUC games. So the Pairwise poll is still a little premature of a bellwether at this point.

2) We almost coughed up the game against BU. We have 2 more to go against them. I don't count it as anything unless we take 3 or 4 points against them.

3) Lowell is notorious for sucking when we are up high in the polls. Let's stay under the radar for a bit longer.

Jeese, Do we have a glass to be half empty or do we just have a puddle and wish we had a glass?

Better to stay in the moment and just enjoy it as it comes.

No better moment than 9 in a row, looking forward to #10 attempt on Friday. Pink ice and packed house for #11 would be great.
Two questions :
1) How's parking at NE
2) Can anyone give reason for leaving 1A goalie home Saturday, been waiting to ask ......

2) Presume yuo're speaking of Connor Hellybuck? Don't know the actual reason but most likely he was ill.

If you're lucky, you can find street parking. The garage nearby is $15 iirc. I usually park at Wellington and take the T. If it's going to snow a decent amount by the time the game ends, I may even take the Commuter Rail down and back.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

I have no idea how I missed this ... there's another coach from that '96 squad from Lowell making some noise as well. Bill Riga is the assistant coach at #2 Quinnipiac.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

Lowell's PWR is all smoke and mirrors right now. Whatch what happens when they eventually lose a game - they're going to plummet. Lowell needs to keep winning and then win some more. It's their only shot, short of winning the Hockey East tournament, to even think about getting a bid.

Also, I don't know how anyone else feels, but this pink ice gimmick just seems stupid. Put something on a jerseys, hold a raffle or something - but don't change the field of play. It's as dumb as the college football programs who have a field other than green, and in this case it's worse because it's a one time gimmick that the players aren't used to playing on. It's going to be a distraction and I think it's short sighted of the school to do it.

Some fallout from the BU game...
Boston Hockey Blog ‏@BOShockeyblog
Per Hockey East, it has suspended assistant captain Garrett Noonan one game in addition to his automatic one game for his game-DQ Saturday.

I bet it is cheaper than uniform changes.
