A tough afternoon for the Field Hockey team. They are down 4-0 in the second half to West Chester in the National Championship game.Sunday at 1pm: Field Hockey, If Lowell beats Merrimack, they will host the National Final
I'm quite aware of that.... But I'd like to think Carr should have known it was going to that side... Unless he assumed he was beat on the initial shot? To me it comes down to if he was screened... If it was going that side he should have gotten over there
Well ... that sucked. Obviously, to this point so far anyway, we've completely overrated this team.
Lowell scored their goal in the 89th minute off a corner.Northeast-10 @TheNortheast10
MSOC: congrats to @RiverHawkNation as they beat top seed LIU Post 1-0 to advance to next week's 3rd rd where they'll face NE10 foe #2 SNHU!
I didn't say I thought they were playing well. They haven't found the chemistry they had last year. What ever system they are trying to work isn't working yet, that is for sure. Maybe I just can't view every game as if a puppy died if they lose. After watching for this many years I just am not that reactionary. If you are that distraught and think we suck so bad I really can't understand why you keep watching. SHort of last year you never seem to enjoy watching anything they do.Considering they have just six home games after the new year, giving away points at home to bad teams (UVM and Maine) in the first half is going to kill this team.
And by all means, please give me a list of the things you've seen from this team to date that give you hope for the future. Go ahead, I'll wait.
I might be too pessimistic, but my god. Some of you act like this HORRIFIC start is no big deal. If you're not worried at this point I don't know what games you're watching.
Call it like I see it. I'm not going to praise this team when they're playing awful hockey. I'm also not going to turn a blind eye and pretend they haven't puked all over themselves since the season started.
My question is why the hell are you watching? This isn't youth hockey. This isn't some bull**** "everybody gets a trophy" town league. This is Hockey East, and if you ever want this team to be anything other than a middle of the pack also-ran, at SOME point you have to raise your expectations. This was supposed to be a very good year for Lowell, so sorry I can't sit back and say "awww shucks, oh well maybe next year" and dance to Gangnam Style and throw a Chuk-A-Puck. Lowell has had very few years where they return a talented, experienced team and have the capability to compete. Thid team isn't competing. Thid team can't make a pass without staring down at their sticks like it's instructional hockey. Thid team has completely forgot how to forecheck. This team is was out-hustled to almost EVERY puck this weekend, and even in the awful years that's something I'd never say about a Lowell team.
I think the real problem is, after watching for this many years you're just used to Lowell being a mediocre hockey team, and it's ok with you. After the investment the school, the athletic office, the alumni and the students have put into this team, this result isn't close to acceptable.
As an aside, that contract extension seems a little premature now, doesn't it? I'm not saying fire the coach or anything ridiculous, I'm just saying it looked like a no-brainer last season, and now it looks like the AD jumped the gun.
Much more eloquently than what I posted. Absolutely agree with the sentiment.I think all of you guys questioning Bazin's coaching decisions/bench management/contract extension need to settle down and give this thing some time. First he was a "mediocre hire" then he was the second coming and now he's worthless again all in the span of 18 months. In one year the guy brought your team from abysmal to the brink of the Frozen Four and now he has a freshmen-laden team struggling to find its sea legs one month into the season and you're pressing the panic button. If you get to year four or five of the Bazin-era and you're 5-25 you can call for his head but at this point give it time. The guy is a world class coach with a proven track record in recruiting and cultivating top level talent. Lowell is going to sort it out and they'll be good for many years to come...

Here's the issue... this team hasn't shown any of the spark they had last year. That is cause for concern. The only benefit is that we are only 7 games into the season. However, like Tony said earlier, with only 6 games at the Tsongas after Christmas, they're digging themselves into a very deep hole early. This team is going to be hard pressed to meet the expectations most people had set for them, and at the moment, will have a hard time securing home ice for the HE playoffs. Now, unlike some people on here, while I love hockey and love rooting for this team, I am not going to live and die with every game. I'm too old to be the quintessential fan boy, so I'll be upset after a game, but I'll forget about it by the time I go home.
All gone quiet in here. Lowell really needs two wins this weekend.
Certainly, they will make the playoffs, but now I don't think it's a lock that we will be hosting the event unless we see an rapid influx of some much needed scoring.
How they come out against UNH will determine and tell volumes the future of this year's team.
